Forget to post this yesterday. On this day 28 years ago GT managed a Watford side for the first time in nearly 9 years as we faced Ipswich at Vicarage Road.

On this day 27 years ago goals from Kevin Phillips and Darren Bazeley gave us a 2-0 home win over Shrewsbury Town.

On this day 41 years ago just a week after losing 4-1 at Villa Park in the FA Cup we got revenge at the Vic beating Aston Villa 2-1 with Wilf Rostron getting the winner in the last minute of normal time.

On this day 31 years ago two goals from Ken Charlery and one from Lee Nogan saw us win 3-0 away at Bristol Rovers.

Was that when they played at Bath City's ground and Nogan scored by blocking a goalkeeper clearance?

 

On this day 26 years ago a Tommy Mooney goal two minutes from time gave us a 3-2 win over Bristol Rovers to keep us top of Division Two.

It was indeed at Twerton Park, home of Bath City FC and yes Nogan's goal came from him chasing down the keeper's clearance which cannoned off him and went into the net.

 

On this day four years ago we started the day in the bottom three whilst Liverpool were top and unbeaten in the league. Yet two second half goals from Ismaila Sara and one from Troy Deeney saw us win 3-0.

The last home game before the world went crazy!!

 

On this day 44 years ago without a win in 9 league games we travelled to St.James' Park to face a Newcastle side who hadn't lost at home all season. An own goal and a Ross Jenkins header gave us a 2-0 win.

I'd forgotten just how serious the risk of relegation had been for much of that season, right up until the last 3 games or so when we hammered Burnley and Fulham. This was a really vital and surprising away win during a v bad run.

We had plummeted into the relegation zone with 10 straight defeats, I think, and Scunthorpe were rock bottom. At half time we were 1-0 down and then, out of the blue, we scored five in the second half. A miracle.
