I fell off a ladder onto a concrete floor. It was a stupid thing to do, I was bare foot. The ladder was wonky as ****. It took 8 months to be walking again. It really ******* hurt. But, accidents happen.
Or that it only toasts one side every 3rd attempt and takes twice as long as a regular toaster... I'm not sure I'm that good at analogies.
I don't understand your anology The better you lead the line , gain good possession , allow others to join you in attack , the better your chance of scoring . A good striker does this The best toaster that money can buy will never be able to wash the dishes
I think someone will chuck a million at him based on his goals alone and probably think he could be useful as an impact sub. He is a shyte footballer though.
I just don't know what to make of Rajovic. It's universally agreed that he isn't a good focal point because he can't hold off his man. But we've seen him do it like QPR away where he was genuinely excellent at it. So that could be coached and bulk up with his first pre-season in two years. We haven't seen him act as a good link up and I don't think that will ever change as it's fundamentally not his style. He's not capable of dribbling or carrying the ball at this level and again I don't see that changing as he doesnt have the agility or balance to produce that change of direction. He doesn't take long shots which I'm unsure if his choice or limitation but i actually think it's a combination of choice and confidence. His pace is average and that won't change. I really think Rajovic will only see any evolution is by way of adapting his strength to the league and develop more muscle to help cope with the defences more and be a more effective poacher and maybe get him to use his body more to shield it. I think that's the only direction we can really push Rajovic going forward as his base level isn't high enough to develop those other areas to a good level from what I've seen but the fact he's got 10+ goals means he got something. I remember Pedro suffered from a lack of rest when he joined and that stifled his level for a while until he had a proper off season and I do wonder if Rajovic is suffering the same issue. Not the same level obviously but I think he's massively fatigued playing in a far more physical league than before and without much rotation as Adeyemo has been injured much of this Season and Bayo hasn't been fully available at times. I slated him earlier because he was gash in all but work rate today (He won a few headers in our box) but I do think he can do more.
Not sure why I need to explain because it’s obvious but I’ll humour you. He’s limited, he can only do something positive in the 6 yard box. He offers nothing else. He is what he his. Why we bought him I don’t know, he’s nowhere near a championship quality striker. It’s kind of pointless criticising him. Criticise the recruitment, and the manager for keeping him on for 90mins but I don’t get the pelters he gets personally.
Thanks for this I see your critique is also to criticize Again Thank you However to humour you Play 1 Bench 1 Get rid (sell) 1 Let's see ?
I'd rather we did everything we could to increase his pace and agility a bit. I think his lack of pace is even more of a hindrance to his game and ours than his lack of strength when holding the ball up (calling his pace "average" is being generous). He can currently never get on the end of any kind of through ball or misplaced back-pass; he does so even less than he manages to hold the ball up (literally never, vs occasionally). This means that we actively have to avoid passing to him during many types of attack. I also don't think his pace can't change - as I've pointed out earlier in this thread we've had a few players who seemed to gain a yard of pace over the last summer. It doesn't mean he actually can mind, but I wouldn't rule it out just yet. He's already rather immobile and if he were to bulk up too much he could end up like a latter day Troy Deeney and basically be a traffic cone - and in turn he would rather become worse as a poacher and less able to react to passes and crosses in to him. And besides, a striker doesn't always have to completely partake in a wrestling match to win a duel vs a defender and hold the ball up, sometimes it can be reaction times or agility which helps a striker to get in front of the defender and better get a ball under control. If he was a tad more agile then perhaps he'd be better capable of making lay-offs to team-mates that don't end up always behind them.
He has certainly got something (as you don’t score 10 goals in the minutes played which he has done) in the Championship, it’s up to the coaches to take the positives and play to his strengths, as other have said he could be knackkered coming into a really tough league after having played 20 odd games for his previous equivalent non league club. Let’s give him the benefit of the doubt at the moment and hopes he turns out to be our record scorer!
Could we try a toaster up front and see how it gets on If nothing else the headlines will write themselves... "Toaster pops up with last minute winner"
Is there any other player who is so limited with such a decent goal return? Scratching my head, but no one comes to mind.
The Raj miss hit shinner from 2 yards is a thing of beauty. Uneven performance from the new signing. But Ishmael avoids grilling again with vital goal.
If this forum was around then I’m sure we would have been saying the same thing about Scott Fitzgerald
The phrase “like playing with 10 players” is used far too often, but is completely applicable to Rajovic. The approach in games compared t9 when we start Bayo is stark, and we struggle to dominate games when he starts. Which is fine… if you can counter. But he’s not mobile enough. Nor can he hold up play. So we end up with bottom of the league constantly recycling possession against us for periods of time at the start of the game - and it’s becoming routine. It’s painful to watch, and although I’m sure Rajovic is earning a pretty penny out of it, it’s completely unfair of the club to have put him in this position.
It's not quite that bad yet. We even had a worse striker than Rajovic back then in the form of Devon White.
Hmm kind of, he’s doing his best. But it’s not like he was a freebie, he cost the same as Morgan Whittaker. £1m can certainly buy you some quality if you scout appropriately. It’s not his fault that we bought him but you expect more basic footballing ability for a seven-figure signing.
Devon White was a much better footballer than Rajovic. Caused absolute havoc in defences during that crazy run of 5-2, 4-2 and 6-3 home wins in the space of about ten days. (I accept that he was mainly crap but he's considerably less crap at all round play than Rajovic...)
I only slightly remember him, but remember Jason Lee scoring a shin roll flick at home about 3 yards out. Who was the other "statue," Chris Iwe(can't spell that now) Iweloumu? He was a Rajovic too
