Still not entirely sure what TDB brings to the table but it's a decent squad. Just need to stick it in the onion bag.
Fairly close to our strongest XI (sadly), but against probably our toughest opponent. Draw would be a solid result.
I like our new transfer strategy of signing players like Healy and Lewis who are already so unfit that we don’t have to bother ruining them ourselves.
Seems like they think he has no confidence in his injury which begs the question why didn’t we check that out beforehand?
An absolute disgrace of a penalty decision by the ref - Porteous was holding his arms down behind his back and was about 2 yards away. Well done Bachmann, justice done.
Get in the Viking in the box, need to get some points on the board before injuries creep in Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Anyone else having Hive Live issues. No audio. Luckily/unluckily it's on Freeview/DAB with Del on Radio Luton, but that's not the point.
Very open game which means plenty of chances for them and opportunities for us to try and take an extra touch and mess up the opportunity.
It's just being so sloppy in possession, I reckon half their chances have been gifted to them by godawful pass backs.
Utterly useless at the back. Goal up hold the ball keep it. No just give it all away again. Dreadful. We should be winning this comfortably but for the idiots in defence today.
Wonderful game, a real advert for the Championship. We would have won that if it wasn’t for our players. Real positive signs going into the break. Once Valball is really hammered into the players we’ll be in a great place. Orns!
Well that had almost everything excitement , chaos , goals , penalty save , worst own goal I can remember , players tried and then panicked and then tried again New striker scored 2 , bayo thought about it and set up a goal disapointed , but can’t say it wasn’t edge of the seat stuff
In the previous 3 games we've been toothless in front of goal but tight at the back. Today we were neither.
That was a hell of a game for the neutrals. For the fans, a nail biter and so much to praise and lament. Porteous had easily his worst game in a Watford shirt. Don't know what caused it but he cost us 1 if not 2 of those goals. Hoedt's was complacent but given he's been very consistent I can forgive that more. Ngakia looked more effective than Andrews while Sema I thought played well at LB again. Pollock didn't overly impress me. Rajovic scored two classic poacher goals whilst Bayo looked much more effective as an energetic impact Sub. Martins had a great game while Asprilla and Chakvetadze looked spritely and dangerous. Dele-Bashiru was mixed as was Louza. Bachmann I don't think was culpable for the goals. He could have done better with the GK but the wall also failed him splitting the way it did and lack of height in the jump. The Hoedt backpass was all on the defender and the 3rd was a very good finish. He saved a penalty, made multiple close range saves in the first half and made the right decisions when sweeping. He was also very lucky not to be punished missing the ball at the end front the cross. I think it's a game where you can't overly read too much into it. Both sides made defensive mistakes you wouldn't expect to see but you also have to praise some of the goals scored as well.
******* hell that was some rollercoaster of an afternoon. Not a lot of quality on show - goals from both teams should be on blooper reals. Glad to see the big man start and get two goals. We might finally have a 15+ goal striker.
Insane dichotomy of a game - at times very exciting attacking play, particularly when Asprilla came on and had what looked very much like his best game for us so far. Alongside that, Rajovic gets a brace on his first start, which would instantly put him at 7th top scorer for us last season... At the same time, he missed a free header from about 4 yards out to win us the game. I'd err on the side of not being too harsh given the first two, even if it was a very costly time to miss. On the other hand, we were the absolute architects of our own downfall - absymal, shocking defending and mistakes at times. Porteous have a very, very shaky game, and yet it was Hoedt with the most idiotic, insane, decisive action. Our midfield is still woozy-wazy as all hell, and we lost control of it so many times. Not to mention the amount of time sloppy mucking about at the back lost us possession in positions that were potentially extremely dangerous - we could have been punished more than we were. Overall an incredibly entertaining game for the neutral, but that isn't necessarily of any great comfort to us. If we can build on that attacking performance, we might just be on to something. Equally, if we don't seriously sharpen up the defensive (and midfield) one, we might find ourselves freewheeling all the way to the drop (battle).
Didn’t watch or or listen to it, so result only - happy with that. Point away at Coventry is good, 3 goals scored so obviously happy with that, and nice that 2 of them from our new number 9.
Well that was a bit more fun! Good to see we're capable of scoring goals, but seemed to be at expense of any sort of solidity at the back. Opened up far too easily, half the time through our own unforced errors. Porto's worst game for us by far, just a shambles throughout. Would have taken him off instead of Sierralta. If he wasn't on a yellow, he probably stops that attack for 3-3. Bachmann must be a nightmare to play with. So unpredictable, so erratic. But gets credit for the penalty save. Rajovic looked a different man after he scored. Really nervous on his debut but a different player with a bit of confidence. Can't ask for more than 2 goals in your second game. Bayo looks very much suited to a super sub role, good cameo, and another goal contribution. Martins continues to impress, another Brazilian gem? Shame he's not technically ours... I really hope no blame goes to VI for how the table looks. We have a clear game plan, interesting ideas, the players are working for him. But you can't legislate for the kind of individual errors we saw today. VI must know this, so I'm surprised he wasn't more insistent on a GK comfortable playing this way. Weirdly feel much more positive about the season than before KO, despite it feeling like 2 points dropped.
The Champo throws out gems of games like these sometimes, it had a bit of everything, quite an emotional rollercoaster ha. We look so dangerous going forwards, shame we looked just as dangerous going backwards today!! A very promising start to the season for me, a clear way of playing with plenty of options on the bench and a united squad putting in the hard yards. The Watford way is on its way back. Keep the faith.
I have zero expectations of us doing anything this season so that was just quite fun and, on occasion, funny. Good afternoon's entertainment.
