Gone to Burton on loan. After a frustrating last 2 years, this looks like a sensible loan, good luck Kwadwo!
Another young player’s career gone for a burton too at this rate. Good luck Kwadwo. I’m convinced there’s a good player there, and still forlornly hope he wears our shirt one day.
We really don't help young players a lot of the time. Baah was playing regularly at Rochdale and then we signed him, didn't play him but also didn't loan him for ages. Then we sent him to Germany rather than back to League 1. As you say, this loan makes sense, hopefully he'll make a good fist of it.
We do seem to be doing a better job of loaning out our young players now, whether Baah will ever come back and play here regularly (the odds are not in his favour, it has to be said), I hope he does well up there
Hope he can use the loan to become a more assertive and independent footballer. He’s always appeared far too sheepish to me.
2. Bundesliga is probably part Championship, part League One standard, so perhaps we thought he'd be capable of playing in a slightly more difficult league. But it then turned out he wasn't (yet, anyway).
When we signed him I always had the feeling we had been fleeced, maybe I was just following the flock at the time though.
Didn't we send him to Germany both as he's declared as a German youth international footballer and with a view to him earning a permanent move away (with option to buy in the deal)? It's indisputable we break young promising players and if I had a teenage son I'd not be keen on him moving to Watford, but some really don't help themselves.
If the player is clearly developing well at the club he's currently at, and our intention is to loan them out anyway, I don't know why we wouldn't just buy and loan straight back for player like Baah. Would seem to be in everyone's interest.
Think Rochdale had just got relegated from League 1, though in the end we didn't loan him out anywhere!
