This move could give more weight to the possibility raised by Goldenorn that Bayo could also be out the door as soon as we sign another striker.
Ngakia is going to end up playing 20 games. He’s dreadful. I disagree that this is people panicking unnecessarily. Look at the squad for god’s sake man! And to boot we loan a player to Udinese 6 months after buying him for several million. This club is a complete joke top to bottom.
Nonsense. We have an injury prone L1 standard player and an academy prospect who has played 10 career games. Would be dumb to have more than this.
Lot of people missing this point, no good having a back up who is as bad as he is Andrews is a young player and we'll be neglecting him if we force him to play every week, yet the guy who needs to step in offers less than nothing No one could seriously call those two options 'depth' at this level
I see we’re getting the usual “well if X happens then I’ll criticise” from a few. Replace X with about 100 things that ended up happening and yet that mysterious criticism never actually came, I wonder when it will?
If Andrews gets injured or has a poor run of form at any point then I'll criticise, but if not, you'll have to concede that Gino Pozzo has done it again
Which makes little sense in fairness. If we are that desperate that we need to get the wages of a 'young reserve RB' off the books then why would you just loan him to Udinese and not just sell them him for a nominal amount and be done with it? If thats not the case and we potentially want him back for next season then why not keep him here and let him gain some experience of the league we are most likely going to be plying our trade in for the foreseeable. Its just a poor decision.
Nobody believes this was actually Ismael’s call do they? It’s like Edwards personally deciding to sign Gaspar all over.
I think you’re missing the point. Teams like us all have back ups like that. There is a certain standard of player for clubs like us who will be a back up
You’ve posted this on a Ferreira leaving thread and every other thread on this site but what you do with three right backs.
I think it's a silly move but it's quite funny to see this be the news that tips people over the edge.
Because it’s arguably the first transfer that weakens our starting XI and doesn’t bring in any funds.
I think he's a far, far better option than Ngakia and fully expected it would be him and Andrews fighting for the starting spot. Just yet again it further weakens an already awful squad and yet again it seems extremely dodgy and stupid.
But you used to rate Ngakia over Femenia, although now admit he's 'extremely average'? And also called Ferreira 'bang average', but now he's a far, far better option?
No-one really knows if he's any good at all, or even better than Ngakia to be honest. His repetition was established early because a) was the first obvious Manga/Costa signing in January and as they've been anointed the saviours by certain football hipsters he was automatically going to be great and b) he scored a good goal on his debut. He's a 22 year old with 16 senior league starts in his whole career. Might turn out to be great but would say there's as much (if not more) chance of him being another Marc Navarro (who people inexplicably hyped up and is now having a lovely time playing for a team in an MLS feeder league in the prime years of his career).
Completely agree. Which is why the meltdown reactions are so funny to me, precisely because, as you say, it is pretty much the first transfer that's been an objectively bad move* *plus Livermore depending on how much of a regular he turns out to be
What’s Janmaat doing these days? Maybe we’ve got a return-to-sender clause in that mad extension we gave him, then terminated a few months after.
Ngakia is a nervous wreck on the pitch. He appears frightened of the ball. He should have been released. The firesale is still happening
Yeah, apparently he's not good enough to compete for game time in our league but is good enough to be a regular in Serie A! Go figure.
Tbf I think *most* of us on here will accept that Kiko wasn't great at Prem level but fantastic in the Championship, Ngakia started off OK in the Championship but has gone backwards in the last 2 and a half years. Ferreira may not have played much, but in the games he has played, he's shown more than Ngakia ever has
We've mutually terminated plenty of players' contracts over the years, if we were to let any of our full backs go, why not mutually terminate Ngakia's contract?
I used to want to see Ngakia given a chance over Femenia a few years back when he was in Andrews place as the promising youngster, yes. Over the past could of years now he's however proven himself completely incapable of staying fit or improving and has been mostly appalling when he's played. Ferreira has looked a bit of a mixed bag in the games he has played, but comfortably better than Ngakia. Very simple stuff.
Kiko ranged from good to average in the PL imo, with a few defensive stinkers thrown in. Think the fact he's still a semi-regular at 32 for a team like Villarreal is testament to that. Ngakia looked promising but was never near that level, and has regressed horribly. Confidence looks shot and I now can't pinpoint...anything that he's actually good at? I liked what I briefly saw from Ferreira. Looked technically sound, if a little weak for a division like the Championship. Thought he'd do well this season, and will probably thrive in a league like Serie A, if he plays. Agree with @Steve Leo Beleck though that it's early days, and his career could go Navarro
