I don't know what's more worrying that we terminated his contract or that Barca insisted on a sell-on fee. They must have been incredibly optimistic on what is essentially a human-sized paperweight.
He was a terrible signing and useless to boot. However, I still personally rank Steve Kabba and possibly Glen Murray as worse. Kabba was beyond awful and Murray may of had a glittering past for many clubs esp. Brighton, but for us he looked about as sharp as a Science teacher's cardigan. Add to that we even had a thread titled "Who would you rather play instead of Murray" that season, says it all.
Murray turned out to be a poor signing but he at least did have a good record. Kabba and Manaj had never scored goals at a decent rate and just seemed strange signings
Bilic on Hause and Manaj : "You have a good centre back and a good striker and suddenly they aren't there and have never been due to injury. I'm sorry about Rey, he trained with us during the World Cup break and in Spain for a few weeks and was showing that he was a proper striker that knew how to score. But he reinjured the same hamstring when he came back against Hull and we had no choice but to let him go. He's coming back from a second surgery but still young and I wish him well." Looks like whatever his injury is might be very serious. Kind of strange that a player who isn't injury prone comes to the club and becomes crocked in the first months of playing here.
What a load of nonsense from Bilic. Player gets 2 injuries in first 6 months of his three year deal and we “had no choice but to let him go”. Laughable.
Laughable damage control that only a moron would actually believe. So it'll appease the majority of our fanbase.
You beat me to it . And below the main script in smaller italics you could write “ even though he did it steal it off Ken”
https://www.mundodeportivo.com/futb...adero-motivo-rescision-rey-manaj-watford.html Google Translate is a bit shaky but it appears to be saying that we are going to resign him after this season and we 'temporarily' terminated his contract to allow us to find a replacement, because he is out for a long time. Wtf lol
Even by our standards that would be bizarre and bring up all sorts of suspicion! Mind you probably depend on if we can get replacements for him and Bayo (plus the other strikers!) No doubt got his contact details ready . Also didn’t we terminate the contract after the transfer window finished ? Probably because no one wanted him .
Could be an interesting recruit. Don't suppose @reids has seen much of him and could offer some insight?
None of this makes any sense for either us or Manaj. Why would he agree to a termination of his contract whilst he's injured (meaning he's not gonna get paid)? Why would we not just include him in our registered players like we did with Gosling etc?
Baffling. It could make sense for us because obviously, we save the money we would've paid him during this injury stint, but what player agrees to forgo all their wages whilst injured? That's part of a risk the club assumes when signing players... Will be funny to see how the club explains resigning him if it actually happens.
There’s simply no truth in the report. Manaj is released and not wanted by the club. No more to it than that.
I've heard it's nailed on that he is coming back in the summer, unless something changes between now and then.
If i remember rightly he was a crock by the time we got him, always had loads of strapping on, put in the effort but his legs had gone. Just three goals in only 18 appearances for us going by his wiki. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dave_Bamber
And has a fanzine named after him by Torquay after missing a penalty against them in a play off final.
I was quite impressed by him on his debut as he nodded the ball down a few times for Wilkinson who didn't look so good, as it was we ended up having much more output out of Wilkinson than the Blackpool Hall of Famer Bamber!
Paul Wilkinson: three seasons at Watford, top scorer in each one (the only player ever to do that), but never all that popular.
Had that languid way about him. I remember he played well for Grimsby against us in that 3-0 FA Cup win under GT when Luther and Gilligan scored in the mud, before moving on to Everton/N Forest before joining us. I thought he was great !
Poor Udinese if true . https://sportwitness.co.uk/strategi...tford-exit-pozzo-seriously-thinking-transfer/ Shows no one wanted him .
Yet we claimed him! It's quite an art to continually bring in people who may at some time have walked past a football but have no idea what it is or what to do with it!
Yet more diabolically genius proper business from Gino here, if there's any truth in these reports: He's playing 4D underwater Chess backwards in a locked coffin whilst everyone else is floundering - Barcelona never met an operator like Gino before. I'm sure they, and any sanctioning bodies, will be absolutely fine with this tactic. Just call him 'Arry.
To be honest, the revelations about Barcelona over recent months mean it’s not surprise to me that Gino does business with them.
