I believe (actually haven't asked exactly what they mean, but this is what i've presumed it to mean!) that: fit = the role they are asked to play, basically crunches all the event data to work out what they do in the current tactical system, aka things they do a lot of. ability = how good they are at actually doing those things. So for instance this season (albeit in a very small sample size) Ferreria ranks highly in "Creating". So he'll likely be playing a lot of crosses and final third passes etc, then the ability will be how many of those actually find their targets etc.
Doesn't sound too clear. Why would a defender only be required to be a '2'/100 for whatever 'reactive' means, for example? And do the numbers refer to percentages relative to something or other, or do they mean something else.
The mistake is with the translation; the phrase in the article, "lateral", does seem to refer to full-back (as per wiki below) - and he most definitely is a full-back everywhere you look. https://es.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Defensa_(fútbol)
We are rumoured to be spending £2m. This deal stinks of the past transfer model. Okoye and Bayo were valued at £1.7m. We paid £10m. Euronews: "Rio Ave had option to buy on expiry of his loan deal. They didn't take up the option. Current market value is EU400K" Let's see what happens.
You use transfermarkt valuations hahahaha No wonder you're so annoyed about the other transfer fees we've paid!
I can help you here. Don't use 'Euronews' as a source. Will probably help you out in some of your other claims too.
Transfermarkt valuations are utter baloney. Also, they wouldn't have agreed to possibly pay 5mil for him in the first place if it was completely unrealistic? Unlike the Bayo deal, it seems we're actually signing him for less than another club had previously considered paying for him. The reason they haven't is they ended up playing with wing-backs and they already have a player they already own who started the season well there - plus 5mil is a lot for a small, mid-table Portuguese club; they'd have to break their transfer record to sign him. As per my comment above, the guy has 28 youth team caps for Portugal, so he has some pedigree.
His agency is MRP Positionumber - their clients are seemingly all Portuguese and include Bruno Fernandes, Nuno Mendes of PSG, and Gedson Fernandes (briefly of Spurs). https://www.transfermarkt.pt/mrp-positionumber/beraterfirma/berater/4408
Seems to be a few clips of him defending on the left hand side too in that video earlier in the thread. A full back that could cover both sides was pretty near the top of my wish list for this window.
Seen a few Benfica fans saying this is a Helena Costa signing. According to them she still has a lot ins at Benfica. Either way this is definitely not a Mogi signing, so even if he’s utterly crap, it’s still better than lining his pockets.
Looks like we're selling JP for only €20m and Asprilla for only €3m then if Transfermarkt values are gospel.
100%. If our new man was behind it then I'm all for it, but this seems like standard issue squad full Was intrigued to see what Navarro did after being released, and he's seemingly retired. At least he can tell his grandkids somebody was stupid enough to play him in the Premier League
Neither, he's signed for the mighty El Paso Locomotives in the USL (2nd tier of football in America) for their 2023 season
Turns out I was wrong, the "fit" bit is right and gauges what they do from the event data to evaluate their role within the team. However the "ability" bit is a percentile rating compared to how good they are at that role compared to their peers. So if we use Choudhury as an example, we know from his stats that he's one of the best DMs in the league stats wise, with the highest (padj) tackles + interceptions in the league for a CM and so is in the 95th percentile for the proactive (guessing this means interceptions, pressing etc) defensive role - matching up with the usual stats that show him to be one of the best. Definitely agree it could be clearer though and I haven't had a full run through of exactly what everything (and all the roles etc) mean. Does have some nifty features though, like a player discovery tool that you can input criteria and it generate results on the data. So if I wanted to find the top 10 U21 CBs with the best (or a specific type of data score) I can do it in a couple of clicks and focus it around specific leagues/regions as well. So for example I want a progressing proactive CB that's under 21 I can set the criteria and quickly find the best data scores. Also has a player debut feature that tracks when a player has made their debut that you can also filter by age - will definitely help me find those youngsters for the Scouting Thread!
