When I lived in Gloucester, I worked for a while for a Jamaican lady who's ex husband was in the specials. I'd always hoped to give her one, but never did unfortunately. I would also like to note that Rico Rodriguez, who's trombone everyone loved so much in the specials etc, was Cuban.
She stopped your messing around. Saw Rico and his own band. He had a good album out early 80s. Poor Terry. Really sad about this one. RIP.
The Specials were a great band, but the Funboy Three also did some fine work, very underrated imo, especially the second album Waiting.
Yes, I saw them live on their "Fun Boy 83" tour. Absolute genius. Of course "Well Fancy That" on the "Waiting" album was about the appalling abuse he suffered as a child. I shall be listening to my vinyl copy in my man cave this evening with a very sad heart.
Terribly sad. Loved and bought the specials, FB3, Colourfield, and his solo stuff. Really talented guy. I loved his solo version of this track written with Ian Broudie and first recorded by the lightening seeds ....
Had a fantastic back catalogue and seemed a genuinely good guy. Reading what happened to him as a kid is heartbreaking. Really sad, but also grateful he did what he did with music.
Lovely smile esp given what she's facing. Love to know why it's her who is being led away by the cops....
he was kidnapped when he was 12, taken to France & raped for 4 days. Phenomenal artist and will be much missed. He’s just sorted his 2023 dates as well so must have been unexpected
