I think people are being a bit harsh on Ngakia, he was not great but he was not as bad as some are saying either. Having said that now that Kabasele is fit he is more than capable of slotting in as CB, therefore I to would not be surprised if Cathcart is moved to RB if Kiko remains unavailable.
Just needs to work on his passing out of the ball and his attacking game. He's not too shabby defensively although he needs to avoid getting sucked in too close to his opponent at times. He needs more playing time as well.
Not sure how reliable this is, but according to this report Hull City want Ngakia. Watford: Hull City line up Jeremy gakia bid - Exclusive (footballinsider247.com)
Hope we get a fee for him (or a case of frozen cod), and it kick starts bringing in a young defender on loan from the premiership. Having shovelled this one on to us, i think West Ham owe us a favour. Harrison Ashby on a loan please.
Has shown he has something in very short flashes, probably would have flourished at a club that trains, respects and looks after their younger players.
You mean like Crewe or Colchester? I cant see him getting into Middlesbrough or Blackburns first 11 or even Readings. .
Guess we will see if he moves to Hull. Another hyped up when he came but never really got a regular chance as Kiko was obviously first choice .
I don't know if this is the Dull story rehashed but I was told today that JN is agitating for a move. I have no sauce for this other than the chap who sits next to me.
Barely played in two years. Probably can’t wait to get out. If we play with wing backs then I wouldn’t be too sad. He just doesn’t have the attacking flair required.
I’m intrigued to see what happens with him over the season - the fact Edwards preferred Kamara on the wrong side to playing Ngakia should tell us a lot. That said, Ngakia is just the type of player who should be improved by a good, young Head Coach like Rob Edwards. I’ve not been enthused over Ngakia since he came in - but I’m not ready to completely write him off yet…I do think there’s scope for improvement. But it’s very much a make-or-break season for him as regards to being a Watford player you’d think.
I think defensively he’s pretty good for 99% of games, and yet he still seems to switch off at least once whenever he plays, which undoes a lot of his good work! In a flat back 4 I think he has potential. He can improve that concentration and be a solid defender. He’s not a wing back though. Can’t pass, can’t dribble, can’t cross. I’ve only seen him for 45 mins of a pre-season game so far this season, but in every attack down his side he was at fault for the move breaking down. Maybe Edwards can coach him to play there, but I’m not expecting much.
I really liked him when he first came in, but he seems to have regressed massively in any recent appearances. Was really solid defensively, good feet, pretty composed. He made a couple of errors and his confidence seems shot. Needs an arm round the shoulder and maybe a run of games and hopefully we'll see the potential that he showed a couple years back.
Never seen a right footed player cut inside so much on his weaker foot into trouble you learn not to do that at an early age absolutely clueless regressed is putting it mildly
Well he's certainly not the answer is he? I liked the bit when he passed it down the line to their player then sprinted after it and pointlessly fouled their player.
I'm hearing that Rob found it 'interesting' and 'saw some good things' in Ngakia's first-half performance this evening.
Trouble is this isn't Pre-season. Do get the impression he treats this as a work in progress type job and the board will give him months/years to sort everything out.
Season number four in professional football for Ngakia and he still plays like an academy player making his debut
I liked the bit, in the lead up to Brereton Diaz curling a shot just past the post. The player he was facing up left him for dead playing a one two with another Blackburn player. He got to the touchline and pulls it back to that same player and JN still hasnt moved, still 5 yards from him admiring how good the one two was. He was like a training ground mannequin used to practice free kicks. Takes some talent to have the ball played around you twice in 3 seconds.
