Champions league football rather than Championship football for him and probably higher wages and some stability at the club.
If this is a reference to Bayo’s scoring stats he actually scored 11 in 18 (it’s just that the Jupiter League playoffs stats don’t get folded in on first look on the various stats websites).
I was on the French version of wfcforums and it said he'd scored 10 in 15. (Wasn't a specific reference to Bayo, just a little joke about our trend of signing players from Belgium with decent scoring records)
I liked Photoshop but not dont see why we are interested in him unless Gino and Dux think graphic design is a good sideline for the club.
I said for Charleroi. The other 3 were for Gent, of which 2 were brief cameos off the bench. It seems a bit absurd to count a 5 minute sub appearance as equal to others. Going further, it's 11 goals in 14 starts for Charleroi.
The 3 appearances for Gent were 26 mins, 29 mins and a start in which he played 60 mins. I agree that a 5 minute cameo shouldn’t be considered on equal footing but these are all substantive appearances. Would you discount a goal scored in one of them. This is why per 90/minute based stats are ideal, because they do away with the overcounting of sub appearances by appearances or the undercounting of sub appearances by starts. Bayo’s per 90 record is outstanding. He was also on an incredibly hot run of form at the end of the season, with 10 goals and an assist in his last 10 games. Hopefully that is indicative of him showing his quality once given an opportunity and not a freak run of form.
Should have guessed lowerrous was trying to correct people on stats, even when he's on your ignore list he's easy to spot on the forum. Remember, he knows best.
If we pull this off, unload Zinkernagel and Bachman and land Luigi Gaspar, I'd say this was an A- window already.
Signing for Club Brugge. Terms agreed and having a medical. Amazingly, he’ll play in the CL next season! (Happy to have ‘missed out’ on this one)
That's good news as far as I'm concerned. We need to be looking at a much higher profile of player than Afobe, as I suspect he'd have been the main man, and is only mid-table Championship level. We need players who are a cut above in order to gain promotion. Players like Cucho Hernandez would fit nicely.....oh wait!!
Only high profile players we will get is when they sit for their photographs. Mogi's ceiling is Fletcher. So expect more random bargain bin players who are 50% fit and freebies from other clubs you have never heard of. Worrying thing is, season starts in a few weeks and nothing so far has suggested we are getting ourselves ready for a promotion push. Still time though.
Downgrading this to a B+ unless we manage to upgrade the midfield with someone from Udinese 3rd string.
Hey, do you guys remember when half the forum went in to meltdown because of a player we didn't even sign?! Good times.
There were posters talking as if he'd already actually signed. Not only that, but some assuming that he'd be our main striker signing. Perhaps he really was only "an option being considered" as per the original link, and after that consideration we decided we weren't actually that bothered/interested? Some of these posts below are embarrassing given the circumstances. Perhaps some of the posters on here will finally learn to not always wet their knickers prematurely and jump to assuming the worst possible outcome is a given? As per other incidents as well like the Edwards compensation rumour. But no, instead they will only claim it's the board incapable of learning lessons. And these are just the ones from this thread, there were also loads of others in other threads.
Most of those quotes are just variations of people saying it'd be a crap signing if it happens and its worrying that this is seemingly the level of player we are targeting The fact that even a crap player has seemingly snubbed our offer and helped us dodge a bullet isn't much cause for celebration If next week we sign a high quality striker instead then i'll happily say I was wrong
Except while behaving as if it has actually happened. There were a number of posts in this thread which were more along the lines of being critical of him as a possible signing, while still being measured and recognising that it's not worth getting in a huff over yet while it's still merely a rumour - I didn't quote those posts. Lol, where are you even getting that it's a "fact" that he "snubbed our offer" from? You're just illustrating my point further in again making 5h1t up that might not have actually happened as an excuse for a tantrum.
As opposed to making 5h1t up that might not have actually happened as an excuse for optimism? We're all speculating here, the difference is some of us are speculating based on the context and the track record of the last few years, not misplaced hope that the Poxbury leopard has actually changed its spots this time Anyway, I have no interest in becoming your forum nemesis #3,457 so i'll bow out here and we can agree to disagree
Lol, you literally just said that it was a "fact" - by definition that is not speculation. Again, the posts I quoted were not based on speculation either; they were acting as if it was a given. It was not "cautious optimism" or "cautious pessimism" or "measured evaluation", it was acting as if was the worst case had actually happened and getting in a huff about it.
