If we can get a small seven figure fee here that’d be very nice indeed. Bachmann is going to be number 2 here anyway so he might as well be number 2 at a club playing in Europe and paying him more.
Don’t forget that ManU’s new manager is the same manager that wanted to sign Bachmann for Ajax last summer.
As they once had a keeper called Chris Turner, they’d only need one called Overdrive in the future to complete the set! Isn't Tom Heaton at Old Trafford? So any move would probably be as a number three?
So Rangnick rates Bachmann enough to get him in as Man Utds #2, but not enough to call him up as one of the 3 GKs for the upcoming Austria games (where Rangnick is also manager). Makes sense.
You think Rangnick gets any say in United recruitment? I would have thought not but that they’re stuck paying him as a consultant.
I would've thought the consultancy role would mostly be focused on recruitment as that's what most of his previous roles have entailed (Lokomotiv, RB Leipzig etc), although Utd have been quite ambiguous about what exactly he'll be doing.
Blimey - he was linked to Ajax last summer where the new Man U manager was but surely will want better than him !
I think he doesn’t do anything but promised him the consultancy to get him through the door. From various long reads there’s a sense that he is a bad fit.
Ok Bachmann has his faults. But shouldn't we also be questioning his goalkeeping coach. Surely if they see a problem in coming for a high ball that they hit the training ground hard on this? Again as a shot stopper excellent plus his handling of the shots is very good. Wouldn't stand in his way if Man Utd came knocking with a crazy offer though.
I guess you can coach technique, but his problem is either indecisiveness or a fear of getting hurt, or both. Not sure how you eradicate those.
Well they're more confidence and mental issues, in all honesty can be eradicated if he's open to specific treatment. It worked for me while fighting depression.
Indeed. Maybe he needs a different type of coaching rather than goalkeeping, but I'm obviously just speculating about his weaknesses from a distance.
By all accounts Man U have definitely made contact but the good news for many on here there are other clubs showing interest.
Still cant get my head around this. He's a hugely talented keeper with a MASSVE Achilles heel in staying on his line. Like a tennis player who is great but can't play backhand shots or a cricketer that can't catch.
I mean, you need a backup keeper in case something happens to the incumbent (not least with Covid these days!), but boy do I hope this is true, there are realistically few assets we can realistically cash in on without seriously damaging our chances for next season, but I'm sure a competent backup keeper will be easy enough to find!
