Spanish paper yesterday was saying Elche want him. The manager there had him at Huesca and is keen if they lose their star striker.
In fairness, I don't see both Cucho and JP really fitting into the same team next season, I'd accept selling one of them, but we absolutely must keep at least one of the pair
Can't blame him if he wants to go and get a decent Spanish move this summer. It's fine because we have loads of likeable characters in the squad already so we shouldn't miss Cucho...
You certainly can’t blame him but this is yet more trading downwards in the same way we had to sell Estupinan last time around. I don’t think it necessarily affects our chances of getting out of the championship, it just makes the task of staying up if we do go up again harder still. We’re consistently losing talented players and replacing them with less talented players, when up to 2019/20 it was the opposite, we had a number of talented assets dotted around. Sarr and Dennis will obviously go too, which leaves us with very little talent at all.
I’ve said all along that anyone decent will go. If any of JP, Louza, Cucho or Kamara stay I will take that as a big, unexpected positive.
Agreed but I can see two of the four going. Louza with an injury issue helps us. But clubs will definitely be looking at the other three otherwise they're not doing their jobs properly.
I suspect no one will pay what we want for Joao Pedro. Gino will still see him as the ultimate te cash cow. Cucho will probably depend on the player kicking up a fuss, new manager and if we get good money for Dennis/Sarr. Kamara - as above. Doesn’t seem the type to kick off. And I’m not sure many clubs will be queuing up to pay £10m+ for a LB they could have had for 1/3 of that 6 months ago and has been relegated. But if they do, could see us selling and getting Doig in for half the price. Louza - Are Morocco in the WC? Could be a factor. But I think he’ll stay.
They are, but I think he'd still get in their team even in the Championship, granted it's comparing apples and oranges, but both Masina AND ACHRAF LAZAAR got into their squad last season, unless their midfield is significantly stronger, his place in the squad seems safe
Shame if true but getting his intentions out early might help us get a replacement- if they are any good .
I think we should try and keep hold of Cucho Hernandez unless the money is significant enough. We are supposedly building for the future so if thats true and it isn't a load of rheroric nonsense coming out of Duxburys mouth Cucho would be one of the first players we woild want to keep.
Think he could have a 20/25 goal season in The Champ and then be valued at £20 million. Right now it's around £10m.
I am not sure he would Beas effective in a promotion push next season as either Ighalo or Vydra were, plus if he is not fully committed to it maybe best to sell on. Happy if he is up for it 100% to stay, but if his heart is not in might as well move at the start of the summer rather than as the window closes.
I think he’d be very effective at our level next season. He’s got the physical tools to be very dangerous, and the headless chicken element to his game will be neutralized somewhat by playing against less intelligent footballers. I reckon he’s the sort of pain the arse wildcard that could do some decent damage.
Yeah, it comes to something when the only motivation for keeping sub standard players is the certain knowledge that they would be replaced with far worse.
I wouldn't call him sub standard. There is promise and he showed it in his first season in England. But yes he will be replaced by a lot worse, older and free.
I loved his attitude, but that doesn't change the fact he was probably at best the 5th best player in the worst Watford side I've ever seen.
That's your prerogative and that's fine. I personally see something in him that shows he's a natural winner in his attitude on the pitch. We sorely lacked this and would be more than happy seeing him being one of the main men next season. He will score double figures without doubt. I believe JP would too even from an attacking midfield position. Put say a Ross Stewart in there and it's again a different story.
Yeah I don't hard disagree. I just think there's very little worth salvaging from this squad, yet we all know that any belt and braces rebuild will involve more of the same shyte being brought in as we saw last season. Our transfer policy is so bad it's hard to believe it's ineptitude rather than malice.
I'd be sad to see him go. I know he is not very good but I loved his positive attitude - always trying to make something happen. He would have been my vote for most-improved-player-during-the-season. Let's face it, positive, give-it-a-go players were in very short supply last season.
I wouldn't be surprised to see them all leave. You can't blame them. I imagine every Watford player is for sale given our huge debt. We could be left with a very weak squad. Early days, let's wait and see.
Well considering there were two sources today reporting that we will be holding onto JP it seems your imagination/sources are wrong.
You could be right. As l said, it is very early days. Rumours of interest from Brazil along with European clubs. Is it true, none of us know. l guess all Watford players are for sale. Who would you keep to play upfront? I am not sure JP will amount to very much at Watford, though l feel he would do well in a counter attacking side. This style suits his game more . None of us really know.
