We will probably end up with the Samir that duped Deirdre Barlow in Corrie and got her sent down. Could do a job?
Sky aren't really in the loop these days though, are they? How do we know that this information that they have predates the rumours about him having to stay at Udinese?
Judging by the teaser done deal and announcement imminent (they are the same emojis he posted a couple of days ago)
Some people will hate this, but for once, the Pozzos have bought what we need. A CB and LB in their primes. I don't care how good they are, but they are upgrades on Masina and Cr@pcart. All that matters.
I'm not exactly going to praise the Pozzos for basically giving us a player they already had on their books, but if you'd told me we'd sign a player of his calibre at CB I'd have been happy enough (which is as part indictment on the Pozzos' defensive recruitment, part compliment to Samir). Kamara on the other hand is a quite excellent signing on paper!
I'm not going to complain about the Udinese <-> Watford moves. Ever. Having a way to recruit around the work permit rules which, while theoretically designed to help young English talent, end up punishing smaller clubs who can't pay 20 million for every player they need to buy is essential. Now, what spots we spend on and some of the players we bring in I'll complain about, but the method of funneling through Udinese is brilliant.
Yes exactly, if he had played in every game for virtually all of the other mid table Italian teams I doubt too many would be complaining.
Signed with plenty of time to bed in before the next league game. Gino does business properly, or something etc
We've signed two players in problem positions, early in the window, in their prime, from top level clubs, with plenty of top flight experience. What's not to be pleased about?
Yep, time will tell if either of them are actually good enough, but on the surface it looks like two fairly smart signings. It's almost impossible that they can be any worse than Masina and Troost/Cathcart/Kabasele. One more centre back, a defensive midfielder and possibly a forward and I'll feel like we've given ourselves a genuine fighting chance.
