Seems utterly ridiculous on the face of it. Long contract, English premium inflating his value, we're more or less potless. Can't see any way in which this is true. Unless... it's some kind of swap with Hughes/Chalobah plus a bit of cash.
He's Newcastle's first-team midfielder, seems unlikely but he's a decent player. Good engine, loads of PL experience and still pretty young. I think Geordie fans would be up in arms if it happened as he's often their only player that seems to care.
Well Giaretta does want a midfielder with PL experience and there's none better than Isaac Hayden. Said no one.
I'd sooner have Isaac Hayes in midfield. "I hear that Gino Pozzo's a bad mother f...." "Shut your mouth!"
Steve Bruce just been on SSN saying he is near to certain there will be no outgoings and no permanent incomings at Newcastle.
No, I have spoken to a couple of Geordie fans and they have said that he is a good lad. He asked to move a while back as his wife and daughter were in poor health following his daughters birth and his family are still in the South of the country as that is where their support network are. His decision seems to be well respected by their fans. As you say he starts for Newcastle and has played in both of their matches this season, I do feel our squad is lacking a bit of know how in this league and this wouldn't be a bad signing. Would make sense to offer Hughes and few quid.
Due to injuries Bruce will probably have to name four keepers in his squad -which means there won't be room for one player who would otherwise have been in it. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football
True. Who knows what he has been promised in that contract though as he has been publicly vocal about wanting to leave.
I heard that Newcastle are still interested in Choudhury from Leicester, so this could be a more upmarket version for us of the 3-way swap deal which was mooted in January
Boo-hoo for Bruce. Delighted he’s got squad issues. After the stunt he pulled to try and get us relegated two years ago, it always pleases me when the boot is on the other foot.
Left out of todays squad, surely we re not in for another midfilielder. The only other southern clubs he could realistically sign for is Palace, Soton maybe Spam ?
We could still do with a ball-winner tbf, a Yokuslu or a Hayden would make sense if Chalobah left. Still, it should be nowhere near as high on our list of priorities as a CB
Agreed. Kucka, Etebo, Sissoko, Tufan and cleverly are all clearly seen as first choices. Then you've got Chalobah, Gosling and Sema (lol) who can play I'm center-mid. That's 6/7 players vying for 3 positions. Would definitely swap Hayden for Gosling though!
I seem to remember Ashley didn't take too kindly to our efforts to get around compensation fees by having Longstaff sign a contract with Udinese before loaning him to us, I am unaware of Bruce doing anything particular to us (although he is a slum landlord which is always worthy of criticism!)
