Sorry if there's already a thread lol, but the Wobby is reporting that Quina has turned down a move to Udinese, and that Muff, as well as clubs from Spain and Portugal are interested. He apparently wants to stay, but having been left out of the squad at the weekend, and with no assurances being given regarding playing time, it's not looking promising for him https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/19519345.domingos-quina-considering-watford-future/
He's not going get regular gametime here, but another loan is kind of just treading water, personally I feel his time is up here, but I also feel if he does go, that it's a move we'll come to regret eventually
I'm totally shocked that Quina could be leaving. Bless him for thinking he was coming back to play after having a chat with Xisco and Giaretta. Not at this club son, you've got a Gosling shaped obstacle in the way.
At this stage in their careers, Gosling is better than Quina. If there's a choice between them to fill the role of 5th/6th choice centre midfielder, might as well keep Gosling and loan out Quina to see if he can ever begin to look like fulfilling his potential, starting with finding a club where he can regularly get in the starting XI.
Well they're very different midfielders aren't they, Gosling is basically a carbon copy of Cleverley, which on paper will be useful to us this season (and should have been useful to us at the weekend but for the fact that he's probably past it now), Quina is the kind who can pull rabbits out of the hat (occasionally anyway), but he's so powderpuff
Assurances from a Gino yes-man and a coach who doesn’t ouch his players mean very little. More fool him.
Came onto this thread to say this. Saw you’d already done it. So I’ll doff my cap to you sir and depart.
He didn't seem so based on their respective last seasons in the Champ. Anyway, I think it seems quite likely based on his additional sidelining of Zinckernagel that Xisco is very keen on all the midfielders being able to put in a solid shift defensively, and on that basis alone Quina will struggle to get game time.
Yet a team better than Watford wanted him in their team. We can do this all day. But to me Gosling is genuinely terrible and Quina has much bigger upside
Is he good enough for a premier league side though? Buendia has been to be proven to be not good enough for the big league so I think we should be setting our sights higher than players from the lower leagues.
Sema on the bench...Cucho down the middle if Dennis goes off...Deeney pushed further down the pecking order...go on, you know you want to.
Absolutely. Would be an excellent result for team BW though. Instantly wiping out the win on saturday.
In the present Gosling provides the solid old head we need at the moment. Quina isn't good enough for now but could be in a couple of years, he needs to toughen up too.
Gosling is not good enough for the PL. Quina also may not be but I’d sooner have him trying stuff and making the odd mistake than Gosling chasing shadows. Moreover, I’d rather neither of them and have someone better.
His not good enough for the prem, unless he has dramatically improved in the last 18 months. He needs to many touches & is easy to read and pick off. It's time to move on
Gosling was dreadful when he came on on Saturday. To the extent the midfield battle flipped. Really don't see how he is solid a this level. Just old and below standard.
I think this is simple. If Quina can do better than Gosling on the training pitch, then he has a few more chances to prove it in a match. IIRC, he missed a few weeks early on due to injury.
