https://amp.gianlucadimarzio.com/it...tford-2-luglio-2021?__twitter_impression=true It's not clear from the translation but it reads to me like we're offering Thorsby the same wages he's on at the moment? I'm sure the guy would love to join a newly promoted side who will be battling relegation all season, take home the same money and have to take a huge pay cut if we get relegated. No wonder it's taking so long!
A comment on the Sampdoria forum... For me it is madness to give up Thorsby. He is a physically dominant midfielder, especially on high balls, and is getting good at getting in without the ball in spaces. We don't have a midfielder like him in the squad and frankly I don't even know how they could replace him, since Ekdal has different characteristics and I don't express myself on the various Askildsen and Yepes, perhaps still immature. PS. I'd much rather sell Damsgaard than Thorsby.
As I've said the two things that let him down are his passing and his pace. He needs options for short passes and that's ok. Apart from this he works his bollox off. Always in the action. A steady Eddie type who is a total team player. Very good in the air which is perfect in both boxes and in the midfield battle because we haven't got that presently.
I'm checking out this person from northern Italy again. Genoa? It's a man actually, but yes, Sampdoria.
https://www.sampnews24.com/calciome...orsby-dettagli/amp/?__twitter_impression=true Leventhal says no bid but I'd rather believe this because it's funnier. Gino - €4.0m? Sampdoria - no €8m... Gino - €4.5m? Sampdoria - no €8m... Gino - €5.5m? Thorsby then signs a new contract with Sampdoria.
I do hope we sign him, mainly because his name sounds like some kind of Victorian-era private detective.
We were all hoping for Yokuslu and Thorsby and we got Tufan and Kucka instead. Early days yet, but looks like we made the right choice.
Seriously. The choice between a club in the Champions League, playing beautiful football, with a reputation for doing lots of things right on and off the pitch, and Watford? If there was even a hint that offers with clubs like Atalanta would develop, this is a no-brainer.
From Italy this morning it's saying we're back in for him! Can't see it myself unless Atalanta have changed their mind.
No further developments on this involving Watford. Sounds like Samp are working hard to avoid selling, so Atalanta are looking at other targets now (including Sofyan Amrabat from Fiorentina). A shame given we clearly do need midfielders (amongst other positions).
I mean, apparently we still want Yokuslu, but have other targets, though I'm not sure this would make any sense as I'm pretty sure he'd be more expensive
According to a Leventhal exclusive this could happen if Watford make an acceptable offer and the player wants to join us......
I'm hearing Leventhal may tell us this is one to watch or he may not. Still deciding whether to post. If he doesn't, there are other ones to watch being considered and postings being mulled over. Could go either way. Ones to watch definitely one to watch.
Canteen Maureen > Grandma from Watford > Grandma from another country > Leventhal > Remote Amazonian tribe who has not had outside contact ( provided they have no internet access)
Again more links in the Italian press today. Atalanta having a bid turned down and supposedly were waiting in the wings to make an offer. The Norwegian press have said that he's likely to struggle to make the starting lineup at Atalanta, something that is worrying Thorsby about even going. Sampadoria do want him gone though.
Quite a lot of reports suggesting that we are. But, I am not believing anything until Leventhal states: it may or may not happen definitely one to watch.
Apparently Ranieri has asked for Thorsby. Watford have 'asked for information' for player - Request 'comes directly from Ranieri', big fan of him - Sport Witness
I like the idea of us asking for information, like we ring Sampdoria and ask their customer service team to send us a factsheet about him.
