RL yet to ever really do it at a tournament.

 

One of the key things seems to be that people moan about the lines and toenail offsides, so just don’t show them to people and they can’t moan about it.

 

Because the users jump in to challenge the opinion of the referee .
Which is against the most important rule in football : " In the opinion of the referee .........

 

Or change the rule to say "if any part of the attacker is onside then they are deemed onside " as opposed to the opposite currently

 

I think we’ve had this debate on here recently, but there would still need to a be a line drawn somewhere in that scenario, and attackers would just adjust to the extra leeway. It wouldn’t solve the line drawing issue at all.

Well yes, exactly. All you’re proposing is a change to where the line is drawn… so how does that solve anything as far as the VAR issues in the premier league are concerned?

VAR has worked in this tournament because we aren’t shown the lines so that every man and his dog can pontificate on it for a week, and decisions have been made far quicker.

In its current implementation, what you’re proposing wouldn’t change a thing in the premier league.

 

I just watched a fantastic game that ended 4-2 and had the current offside rules which suggests it doesn't needs fixing.

If anything, trying to change it is woke.

It seems to make sense with how quickly decisions have been made. I think it’s working well because everyone is given the decision and just gets on with it, a bit like how it used to be pre-var only now it’s almost 100% accurate.

 

Well they’re not a secret are they? Because the decision is given by var either way, and it seems from this thread alone football fans are very happy with it, aren’t they?

Murphy is utterly thick and incompetent. God knows why the BBC use him.

 

They also show the decision graphic with the lines a few minutes later. You can only hope we follow this way of doing things here, but I won't hold my breath pointdexter.

Are you actually saying you like the visual spectacle that is the 2/3 minutes of forensic line drawing, while a decision is made about whether an offside is offside or not, like we currently get with Premier League games?

I am against technology however GLT is either it's in or its not so I give way to that .
However I am a believer of the "rough and the smooth" with an honest referee decision

Sometimes the best pass is the risky long pass rather than safe 10 yard possession based pass .
Imagine being a striker playing for Spain and the ball never comes and instead the defence and midfield just play keep away?
