https://www.tuttomercatoweb.com/cal...o-vicino-jovane-cabral-dello-sporting-1548579 Reinforcement from Portugal on their way to Watford. According to the TMW editorial team, the English club is in fact very close to defining the purchase of Jovane Cabral, the Cape Verdean forward of Sporting CP, who scored 5 goals in 24 appearances in the last Portuguese Liga. I know nothing about him.
Has been a bit of squad player and hasn’t played too often (mainly as a sub) but 31 goals/assists in 3300 across the last three seasons is pretty decent indeed. Still only 23. With two years left on his contract I suspect he’s keen to leave for first team football. Classic Pozzos to get an ostensibly advanced link in foreign media totally out of the blue. Rolling back the years. Edit: I think I counted wrong and it’s 34 goals/assist in 3300 minutes.
I have actually heard of this guy, his name came up last transfer window but for other clubs. Isn't he meant to be pretty good? For that reason I think we can ignore this one. Plus we don't have anyone who can speak Cape Verdean so I don't think he'd settle over here.
He’s pretty good but doesn’t start for Sporting. Read a couple of tweets saying they want to cash in on him to fund signings in areas of greater need. Only two years left on his contract so they either need to convince him to resign or sell him now.
He looks really fun and explosive, still raw-ish, but suits English football as he’s quite a strong runner. Can do a bit of everything, but loves to score low quality chances (bangers essentially) there’s a lot of upside here. Also sporting fans really like him, and if it wasn’t for their financial situation, he’d be staying. Had to drop the price from £20m to around £10m due to having no leverage - same with Matheus Nunes who was quoted at £40m, but now joining Everton for £15m. Cabral has also scored a number of free kicks which is helpful
Know nothing about him. However his potential in FIFA is 85! 85!!!! That’s the same as Aubameyang, Silva, Mertens, Firmino, Thiago, Depay and Mahrez, to name a few. Therefore he must brilliant. I’m willing to state that this guy is exactly what we need. Failure to bring him means certain relegation. Sign him and we’re qualifying for the CL. He’s that good.
Sounds like he’ll be our winger. I’d say he’d be an upgrade on King Ken. Not in the Sarr or Geri bracket, more like an Amrabat/Carrillo type in terms of quality.
It’s an exchange of money for goods or services IMO. Can someone let the club know and let’s get this fella across the line.
I really like the look of this guy, seems just what we need to provide some extra goal threat from the left-forward position. Plus, although he's mainly right-footed, he seems very good with his left as well, which is handy. He seems quick, agile and has an excellent shooting technique. It seems surprising though that he hasn't featured more for Sporting given his excellent goal + assist stats when he does play. Obligatory youtube comp (seems to start repeating clips at about 2:30): Plus a recent goal he scored against Porto cutting in from the left-hand side on to his right foot!
That was my read on it, too. Club has decided they need to upgrade/create competition at LW for Sema, and this appears to be a cheaper option than Danjuma. Whether it's a good one, we'll see...
Apparently now we're not interested. Ryan Gray @ObserverRyan Club sources have denied Cabral links this morning
Cabral's goals + assists stats in the last two seasons for Sporting have been way better than anything Carrillo managed for either Sporting or Benfica. Amrabat did join us off the back of a decent couple of seasons for Malaga, I doubt the club expected him turning out so utter cack for us when he arrived here. Yeah if this is true it seems he'll be instead of Danjuma, wouldn't be too disappointed by it though as it appears on initial viewing that this guy also has everything we would want from someone in the position. I'll be interested to see how their stats for last season compare.
I'm really disappointed now we're not getting a player we were never considering getting in the first place and 30 minutes ago I'd never heard of Damn you Gino playing with our emotions like this
To be fair to Mr Observer, I think he’s been pretty accurate about who we’re not interested in. Shame really, this was one of those left-field links I could really get behind. In hindsight I should’ve realised it was b******* when I didn’t hate it.
