Make him captain, the highest paid player at the club and rename the Rookery after him as far as I'm concerned.

Hughes is a Rolls Royce of a player. Since he's been put in at the base of the midfield we've been a completely different side and has been pivotal to our charge back to the Premier League. Has had ONE poor game since playing in a midfield 3 and that was at the weekend when he was moved out of his best position! I just hope we can keep him this summer along with Sarr & Sierralta.
Don’t see this anywhere on the Athletic site, although Leventhal did say this morning that Villa are among a number of PL clubs keeping an eye on the Hughes contract situation.
It’s a pretty smart whoosh, I have to say, given the fact that most members don’t have access to the Athletic.
Can’t believe people fell for it. Quick google/twitter search and within 10 seconds found out that it’s bs. Don’t even need a twitter account to search twitter.
This has been winding me up over the last couple of days. Is nobody else annoyed that it’s those tarts Villa with their man city light spending doing this?
Why hasn’t he signed a new contract and why’s he absent from the training ground photos? I’m getting edgy at this point.
He can hurry up and sign or F Off. I honestly think the latter is happening. As people are saying why isn't at the training ground?
If Leventhal is right and the club want it sorted ASAP then he might have an extra week off to consider his future. Nothing wrong with him assessing his options, why wouldn't you rather play for moneybags Villa than us? Hopefully it's sorted either way by next week.
He needs to decide whether he wants to play for England or not. Because that ain't happening playing for our piddling club. For anyone.
Villa are really turning the screw to make the gap between them and the relegation spots as wide as possible. Sensible but expensive signings. Annoyingly those tarts are a much better prospect than us but I will still seriously question the club if we can’t re-sign Hughes. He literally came out saying he wanted to stay and without him, I can’t see us bringing in anyone close to his level (I understand his quality is somewhat controversial on here.) He’s still youngish and one of the only players who could still hold his head up high during the relegation battle. Another homegrown player gone too. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Unless we make some decent signings then who can blame him if he leaves? Who wants to stay to get relegated again? Anyone ambitious should be screaming to leave us. It says a lot about his character that Sarr appears to be willing to settle for our mediocrity. Our signings so far show an acceptance that failure is inevitable. Compare it to last time we went up when the whole club was buzzing. Such a shame.
