How much is he on? Will we be able to shift him? Even a million or two would be fine for us at this stage
I'd even give him a free if no body wants to buy him, as I think we have had our money's worth out of him in multiple loan fees
Could be his year......will be like a new signing. Not. We need to begin clearing out the deadwood, starting with this waste of a pair of boots
Depends though, I know it’s annoying having these failures knocking about, but jokes about loan fees aside if they’re actually making us money then so be it.
For some reason I still really want things to work out for him at Watford. Not going to happen though.
Exactly the same boat I’m in. By all accounts, I should hate him, and generally do hate players of his type, but for some reason, I can’t help but want it to all work out.
Penaranda has never been given a chance at Watford. I put this down to training as when he has played he had been decent enough and scored a decent goal. Success on the other hand has had many chances and is still an absolutely gash footballer. As is Navarro who for a right back can’t defend to save his life. There are quite a few players that need to leave way before Penaranda, but he needs to get with the program show a desire to be at Watford and break into the 1st team, otherwise he is more deadwood we don’t need.
Would we be interested in a 23 year old that hasn't pulled up any trees for CSKA Sofia, or AS Eupen? Unless I'm mistaken, he hasn't scored a league goal for any club in FIVE years! I don't think we've done a great job managing his career but at a certain point he needs to take responsibility for himself. His attitude doesn't seem the best, and hasn't shown any signs of fulfilling his potential during any of his loans. Sell him to any clubs silly enough to take him, I'd be very surprised if we live to regret it.
He's had chances to impress both here and on loan. Every time either injuries or his attitude get in the way so it's time to cut our losses. If Deeney is staying then any unnecessary wages should be shipped out.
I think that there's 2 paths for him now: 1) Get rid. He's been with people and a club that Giarretta knows. Giarretta has no emotional, ego or other investment in him. If people he trusts say he rubbish, he'll be gone. 2) Let Xisco have a crack at him in the summer. Last chance. Impress or you're gone. Enjoy trying to make a living being the Venezuelan Freddy Adu.
No point Xisco or the Wizard of Oz spending time with him, the Premier League player is not in there. I honestly would prefer Xisco to spend the close season working to get a tune out of some of our marginal players than this guy who feels so marginal that he might as well train on planet Pluto rather than his probable preference Planet Hollywood. Best would be to see if we can use him as a make weight to get another South American prospect.
They shouldn’t be worried about the amortisation cost. It’s not a cash cost, just bookkeeping. They should be worried about the cash cost of having him on the books. Let him go for a nominal sum or free transfer but with a sell on clause to protect against the 5% chance he suddenly becomes a valuable asset elsewhere.
FFP says differently, and as we know, FFP really only applies to small clubs. After letting a few big boys off the hook they are likely itching to hammer someone to save face.
Was wondering how this waster was getting on in Bulgaria and found a rather strange Twitter account that covers Bulgarian football in Spanish (niche audience I'd guess). Anyway, a lot going on in one of their recent updates. CSKA think he's been faking an injury, want to buy him permanently but have also asked us if he has a chronic injury we haven't disclosed as he's always injured. Quite how those three statements fit together is anyone's guess! Sounds like rubbish but this is a Watford player we're talking about and we are a weird club so could be some truth in it... https://twitter.com/futbolbulgaro/status/1379063473888452611?s=20
There used to be a full time player who never played tournaments. Always trained and played practice matches but always 'injured' when it came to an event. Some people just like the idea of being an athlete, although reasonably hard to sustain for the long term! Bertie does seem to have a few psychological problems.
This guy has been our player for what, 5 years? and I've only just realised his name is Adalberto and not Alberto.
He clearly is actually talented, that the biggest shame of this. One day he'll look back an regret the wasted opportunity.
Well he replied with a broken heart emoji or something similar when Venezuela announced their Copa American squad for this summer and he wasn't in it. At 23 should've been his big break out tournament so if the penny doesn't drop now it never will. Narrator: it never will.
I actually did like the look of him any time he's played for us in the cups, the kind of performances which ordinarily would at least put him in contention for a place in the squad for league games, but a whole host of managers haven't taken a shine to him, from the happy-clappers to the disciplinarians
