Haven't got a hold of a physical copy yet, nor have they published it online, but I've seen the list bandied around in a few publications, and...well, have a read for yourself! #23 is, how should we put it, an interesting pick! https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport...three-swansea-city-stars-cardiff-20350397.amp
Just imagine that someone at FourFourTwo has been paid a fairly handsome salary to research that piece and choose those players. Stealing a living.
It does give off those vibes doesn't it? FourFourTwo are normally quite good tbf, wasn't expecting this
Can't wrap my head around it. By all means profile 50 EFL players they think are interesting or show a lot of potential. But at least 45 of the top 50 players in the EFL play in the Championship. They would be better off doing different lists for the different leagues if trying to be inclusive to L1 or L2 sides.
In fairness, they've always added the odd token star player from L1 and L2 (I think it's fair to say someone like Toney genuinely was one of the best players in the EFL last season despite playing in L1), it's just the lazy journalism gets me
I used to rate Fourfourtwo. I'm guessing sports journalism has gone the same way as mainstream political journalism in the last 15-20 years!
Lol. No space for any defender from a team who has the best defence in the EFL? 442 has always been ropey at best but that list proves they have about as much of a clue outside the Premier League as Talk*****. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Sarr at 8th behind Ayew, Brooks, Joao and Armstrong? Lmao - Muff's own fans think Brooks has been awful, and the same for Swansea and Ayew - they can't wait to get his enormous salary off their books. Armstrong, meanwhile, hasn't scored in 11 games. They also put Mbeumo at 17 despite, again, Brentford fans almost to a man on their forums talking about how bad he has been this season compared to last. Laughable. And Hughes isn't even on the list. It's parody, no doubt.
Defenders? I've looked through both the top scorers lists and YouTube stepover highlight reels and I haven't seen a single defender. Next thing you'll be suggesting goalkeepers aren't just failed footballers there to make up the numbers.
Subjective nonsense from people who have probably never played the game nor been to many games as spectators, but attended third rate colleagues to get journalism certs and sport science diplomas and were on a tight deadline from their sub editor. Either that or Siri created the list.
Evidently this was voted on by fans - not FourFourTwo journalists. No idea how or when that occurred, but i'd imagine a good majority of Championship fans buy into the narrative that Deeney is our talisman, leader and best player - both because they hear that from the media and because we've been gone for five years so we don't have a squad they're familiar with.
