looks to me (based on absolute guesswork) that 86 would probably do it , so 2 wins And 1 draw

I don’t think it’s quite over yet given our run-in. But it would take some implosion from here! As @Jumbolina has said, I think beat Reading and we can rest easy knowing neither Brentford or Reading will win all their games at the same time as us losing all ours.

They will be looking to us to provide them with encouragement for their games at the weekend - we must beat Reading and that will be the final nail in their coffins I think.

On a separate note, now that my gut says we are up, isn’t it great that we also play a major role in deciding who gets in the play offs

Beat Reading and we are pretty much there. I don't see Brentford (and Swansea) stringing enough winning results together to catch us.

We'll secure promotion away to Luton.

What a shame the fans couldn't be there.

Once promotion is out of the way, we should do everything in our power to beat Brentford and ensure that our victory is the one to knock them out of the playoffs.

Everyone is saying beat Reading and we should be OK, but if we lose to Reading we might have to start worrying about them and not forgetting Barnsley, as they are beginning to look more dangerous than Brentford and Swansea at the moment.

The playoffs could end up being Bournemouth up in any order.

Probably being overly paranoid, but with the bad form of some of those teams, we could probably do with Millwall having a few bad results so they don’t actually have anything to play for against us.

Barnsley have a good run in too..

But surely will not do enough?

For all the bizarre worship of Norwich as they are playing well in the current match, we have been level with them for most of the season. They opened up a 7 point gap early in the season under Ivic’s dross and since then we have picked up more or less the same points.

They’re obviously more fluid in attack than us, but we are stronger defensively. Let’s not carried away with the Norwich worship please, they will be bottom next season.

Phew. Not feeling quite so annoyed after that, but we still need to find at least 6 or 7 points from our remaining games and we'll need to be more focused and energetic than we were against Boro to do that.

It’s theoretically possible we could practically clinch promotion at Luton lol as that could put us 15 points clear with only goal difference preventing us actually being guaranteed.

    Interesting fact (I think);
Over the three last games the top six clubs have dropped 30 points, whilst the bottom six clubs have dropped only 23 points.

Brentford are a strange side - earlier in the season they won at Middlesbrough 4-1 (probably their most impressive result of the season) while we only drew there 1-1, and tonight they could only draw 0-0 at home to Brum, a side we convincingly beat 3-0 (and it was apparently one of their better performances this season).

Meanwhile, Norwich have proved they are likely the best side of the lot - I thought if there was any fault about them, it's that they don't score many goals for all the chances they create (they'd only scored more than three once before tonight) but they've disproved that - six goals from eight shots on target shows how clinical they can be, and Buendía has got a hat-trick of assists.

Well yes, our game against Reading is significant for everyone from Bournemouth up. It’s certainly a most not lose.

Everyone waxing lyrical about Norwich haha.

They are playing a Huddersfield side that are missing a crap ton of players and lined up with the most ridiculous formation against Norwich.

As soon as the team sheet was released, was obvious Huddersfield would get spanked. We have had Norwich’s number the last three times we’ve played them. Their not all of a sudden Man City.

We know how they play. Just because every other team in this league is stupid by allowing them to play through the middle, we don’t and won’t again when we play them. They play out from the back, we will press them and stay compact through the centre. They can’t play any other way.

    We will beat them.

Even if we lose to Reading they'll be 10 points behind us with a far worse goal difference and five games to play. Neither them or Barnsley are ever catching us in a million years.

Brentford are the only logical team to worry about any more.

They’ve conceded one more goal, they have a lot more points. Let’s wait until we know if we’ll even be in the same division before we start predicting what happens next season.

    Nobody is catching us.

We are hardly limping over the line.

We have hit form at exactly the right time of the season.

Just ask Brentford, who might have gone 20+ games unbeaten earlier in the season but who now can’t find a win anywhere.

Thos isn’t a Watford side like the one who stuttered into the play offs on the last day under Boothroyd. Or one like in the Zola season who couldn’t shake off Hull.

The 2021 version are one of the two form teams in the division and nobody has gained any points on us over the last seven matches.

    Keep the faith!

If Brentford were to win their game in hand and beat us it could still be mighty close....

    We're in better form however.

    Reading is MASSIVE.

God knows how people listen to other teams games, hard enough concentrating on ours. What a great result and we are firmly in the driving seat now. Win against Reading and we will take a huge step towards promotion but unlike some I don’t feel that will be it. I’ve been going for far too long to celebrate before it’s guaranteed.

As far as I'm concerned (in all probability) we'll go up if we win the next two games. If we win 2 from 6, Brentford would have to win 5 from 7 just to get level. It's a tall order, especially when your struggling for form.

I find it incredible both Brentford and Swansea have faltered at exactly the same time. We need to take care of business and get those wins. By the time we play Brentford it may not even matter.

If we can beat 2 of Reading Luton and Millwall we effectively force Brentford and Swansea to win every remaining game

Tough games coming up. Time to really dig in and get the results we need.
Norwich have run away with it in a very weak Championship. Let's hope we can remain in 2nd spot.
Good luck and fingers crossed .
    Enjoy...

I wonder whether Brentford would prefer us or Reading to win on Friday? They could feasibly fail to make the play offs.
