He's a farkin' cheapskate as he wouldn't pay for a professional photographer to do his head-shot.

Think it was the second rather than the first. Richardson got first and third I think.

My brain cannot compute the fact that Tamas Priskin is still playing. Seems like a lifetime ago he played for us. Scored 16 in 22 this season back in Hungary in the second tier.

Maybe the fact he’ll have almost a bit of pace might mean he’s now onside some of the time ?

I can see why Priskin would have wanted to play for us after we'd been promoted to the Prem but how did Aidy discover him and why did he sign him? Just seems one of many oddball signings made in 2006/07, even if he did eventually score a fair few goals for us during a time when it didn't really matter.

    This was on wiki:

" On 9 August 2006 he completed a move to Premier League club Watford on a four-year deal after impressing during a trial period, for an undisclosed fee

Trouble Priskin had was he kept being offside but had some talent if motivated.

He did a pretty good impression of a football player when with us .

Yes, I saw that, but it doesn’t tell us much other than he impressed Aidy enough to sign him (and sadly Aidy wasn’t the best judge of quality after 2005-06 - even during that season he signed Jordan Stewart!).

I just wonder how he came to be trialled in the first place, coming from a division that probably wasn’t even Championship standard in a country whose national team hadn’t done anything of note since 1966 (not to mention the language barrier, which was painfully obvious during his first season with us - Hungarian is incredibly difficult for a European language, only Finnish (and possibly Estonian) is comparable, and I can’t imagine English being much easier for Hungarians). And as so often with these deals, he didn’t stay the full four years, only scoring one goal every ten games during his three years at Ipswich before moving back east.

Don’t forget his brilliant spell on loan from us at Preston, 2 goals in just 5 appearances which probably went some way to getting him the Ipswich move. He also had a habit of going on loan from Derby and scoring just once a feat he achieved at Swansea, QPR and Derby!

    Great website.

I'd forgotten Collins John even played for us. Now I've seen his name again I can recall how crap he was.

Typical Boothroyd signing in that season.

I’m afraid most of Boothroyds signing were crap, only decent one I can recall was John Eustace hopefully there were others

Guess King , Henderson, Spring and Malky did a very good job in the promotion season but after that ..

Nothing random about signing a Brazilian called Douglas....

I thought that was an absolutely cracking deal for us at the time, he wasn't long off a double figure season in the Prem, but it turned out that he was absolutely riddled with injuries

Then all the pundits could do is moan about how it wasn't a great game and wish they weren't there if I remember.

True probably wasn't but loads of big games weren't/aren't either.

There were pundits who moaned about the cup final in 2008 being between Pompey and Cardiff, some said not having at least one of the 'big teams' in it devalued the final. Utter rubbish.

Imagine if our semi final v Wolves was the final? Not just because we won it but because it was an exciting game rather than the dead rubber final. Most FA cup finals are really poor games.

Like the first FA cup final at the new Wembley in 2007 between Chelsea and Man U which had been hyped up massively.

Think it ended 1-0 with about 2 shots on goal.

Or that really one-sided bore fest final a couple of years ago. No tension just a question of how many and whether they'd break any records.

Was in the pub in Wembley beforehand and joked about wondering what the record defeat was, then googled it. Little did I know...

Yes I knew it was 6-0 and said before the game it was more likely we'd lose by 5 or 6 than win by 1. Didn't think either would happen though. Still, the flags were great.

I still had one of the flags stashed in our kitchen, until the freezer failed while we were on holiday last summer and covered it in putrid rotting food mush. The second time in fact it had to bear witness to something decomposing in front of it in its short existence.
