No. The storage and transportation 'problems' are are red herrings. Plenty of vaxs/drugs require ultra low temperature storage.

Cheap because of the bulk buy deal the EU negotiated.

All very true as drug dealers are renowned for their ethical business standards be they addicts selling wraps of smack next to a school or multinational pharmaceutical companies.

Something that also should be thrown into the mix is how that's reported over here. Take the other week's shenanigans with the 'Australian' OAZ shipment. I'm an early bird, up for the start of Today at 06h00 - that was headline news at 06h00 "...EU blocks export of OAZ vax to Australia...", by 07h00 it had changed to "...Europe blocks export of OAZ vax to Australia..." to finally settling on, at 08h00: "...Italy blocks export of single shipment of OAZ vax to Australia...".

By the way: AZ may have it's roots in ICI but it's as 'British' as the Vauxhall motor company.

Of course they aren't red herrings. It is completely different logistically getting Pfiser vaccines to outlying GP surgeries and jabbing people within strict timescales, for example, than it is getting AZ vaccines to the same place.

I expect this news to be spun, if the details of how much 'we' actually paid over the top for 'our' vax are ever leaked, by our Lords and Masters as:

What about Xga and Nga etc?
A week since I had my first jab and I swear a new "Microsoft store" icon has appeared on my work desktop. Perhaps it was there all along .....but I'm now powerless to prevent my eyes being drawn to it ?

I question how geeky they are with statistics when they apply a whole year's worth of DVT statistics to a 2 month period.

Still, agree with the main point.

It’s a bit rich given the previous media spin that everyone over 40 would be jabbed by the end of April. You would have thought the government had learned by now not to over-promise.

As long as it doesn’t lead to a two-tier unlock where the older, vaccine recipients can do things the rest of us can’t then I guess we just have to lump it.

Hancock explicitly ruled out the idea of those who were already vaccinated being allowed to meet others indoors at today’’s briefing.

Worrying. First rule of the past year has been anything a minister denies becomes the way of things within weeks.

I do wonder whether it might put the plan to have some fans back in stadiums before the end of the season at risk, though.

Did the government say that everyone over 40 would be jabbed by the end of April, or was that the media merely extrapolating that we were ahead of schedule for the July targets?

Well ....let’s not be too hasty.
You youngsters have got plenty of years left to go on holiday. For the rest of us, this summer could be our last chance.
I think under 50s should be looking at 2022.

If you're booked to go to an EU country, then you should have to sign a waiver that will allow your date of birth to be modified on your passport to say that you're in your 20s. That'll scare the EU to see fully vaccinated Brits, apparently in their 20s, looking like they're about to retire.

Well one issue will be the vaccination passport. With many holiday destinations saying you will be welcome once you have had both doses. For the core July August holiday season that means getting a first jab by mid April.

night clubs having to rediscover the music of the early eighties and pubs full of the over 50s will make this summer a novel one.

Got a call at 5pm from my doctor’s surgery offering me a vaccine at 5.30pm. I was surprised as I’m not over 50 but accepted the invite. The mystery was solved when I got to the vaccination centre and discovered it was “Pfizer Day”. Might be a tad early to say this but, so far, not a single side effect. My arm was a tiny bit sore for about 20 mins afterwards and that’s it.
