What a load of old waffle. What in ****s name does that have to do with an individual footballer being good enough for a specific League?

I simply don't think Ken Sema is good enough for the Premier League and have quite clearly stated why. Are you telling me that he is undeniably and factually a proven, Premier League standard player? Please do provide me with the irreputable evidence if so? I'll wait.

Otherwise accept that I'm simply stating my opinion for which there is at least some good cause, whether you agree overall or not, and do one.

You are entitled to your opinion.
My opinion is that your opinion is a load of old negative bollix in which
    probability is in your favour.
Negative people never say who WILL win the league\cup\whatever
They only want to tell you the 1 team who won't
And probability is in their favour

....and FWIW I agree that KS is probably out of his depth in an attacking 3 in the Prem.
However that is not to say he is not good enough to do a job in other positions.
To say that he is not "good enough" end of. Is nonsense . IMO .

Hahaha, honestly, what are you actually rambling on about? It's not a maths equation mate, I simply don't think a footballer that plays for us is good enough for the Premier League because I've, you know, used my eyes to watch him play football...

What on earth are you even trying to get at? It's a truly bizarre analogy. So a person can't argue that a footballer won't be good enough because by probability most footballers won't be and somehow that means you're just talking a "a load of old negative bollix" by suggesting someone isn't? Nonsensical.

Sema's delivery will cause issues in the Prem, but I agree he's too much of a one trick pony where he cuts it back then forward on his strong foot to get a cross in. Higher level defenders will not fall for that. He's physically fine with good pace, stamina and strength but he will be exposed on a technical level more. Bottom 10 winger. Could do worse, could do better but certainly a good option to have regardless.

Um, what? Personally think Ekong was poor yesterday, but I wouldn't say he's never going to be good enough because as you said earlier, circumstances change.

WTE will do better in the Prem than the Chamionship due to better quality pitches. When at the Vic he's looked generally very good but on other pitches he noticeably struggles more with less predictable bounces and behaviour. His passing and reading of the game takes a very noticable dip away

What do you mean "um, what"? This is your post that I responded to with what you've quoted me on:

You have specifically alluded to people having general things to say about the performances of a number of players in a sarcastic manner, hence me saying no one can dare critique anyone's performances. Now you're moving the goalposts as if it's just about Sema and "never being good enough".

  9. NathWFC

    NathWFC First Team

For the record, I also think Sanchez will never be good enough for Real Madrid. Probability is in my favour on that though so that makes me wrong somehow no matter what, or something. F**k knows.

I'm rambling on about that you know the square route of fugg all about football but you like to sound like you know what you are banging on about because of your negativity.
Which part don't you understand ?

  11. NathWFC

    NathWFC First Team

Yep, you've really shown me. I don't know anything about football because I don't think Ken Sema - who has already failed in the Premier League once, was so good in Serie A that he's ended up in the Championship the next season and who has average stats and a number of average performances now at this level - is good enough for the Premier League.

"Perceived negativity" = automatically wrong/"Ur N iDiOt M8 u DnT kNo NoThIn BoUt FuTbaL!". Got it. I bow to your superior knowledge of football as well as maths, apparently.

Oh wow . You think that 1 player won't be good enough for 1 of the most famous teams in the World.
Who could predict that ? FFS

  13. Davy Crockett

So , according to you , anyone whose team gets relegated instantly becomes not good good enough for the Prem. You sure ?

  14. NathWFC

    NathWFC First Team

Hahahahaha. Wow. As if you've not got that. I was taking the p*ss out of you there, buddy. I'm surprised someone as super intelligent and knowledgeable as yourself didn't get that, but hey ho...

  15. NathWFC

Er, in what way is that according to me in any way? Where exactly have I said that? Literally just making stuff up out of thin air now.

I think you have been owned actually because of your negative bollix

Stop talking negative shyte . Is my advice . Very few care about your nonsense.

Well, when you've completely failed to recognise clear sarcasm aimed at you, yes, I'm definitely having a good laugh at you and that response.

You've done a really good job of proving your point by simply repeating "negative bollix" and spewing some vague nonsense about probability over and over again though. Good work.

  19. NathWFC

    NathWFC First Team

Oh, OK, so you can't actually respond to what I said (again) because you did literally just pull a completely made up assumption that I haven't actually said at all out of your arse, as I pointed out. Got it.

I mean, thank you for your advice, but given your completely nonsensical posting in the last hour I think I'm OK.

WTF is going on in this thread?? Sema may or may not be a decent squad player in premier league. Likely not I would say but we have to cut our cloth.

However it’s pretty clear he’s pretty limited and at 27 isn’t going to improve.

Decent at Championship level, and maybe a backup/squad player in the Prem. I would like to see someone else given a chance as Sema looks pretty average at the moment. Maybe give Issac a chance, or stick Masina further forward.

I think I saw somewhere that Masina started out as a much more attacking player, but despite two rather welcome goals in the last two games, he's never been very good for us going forward. We definitely need to rest Sema, is Success ready to start? I suppose Hungbo is probably at the impact sub stage in his career at the moment

I don't know. Capoue and Holebas in the twilight of his career had arguably their best seasons for us in 2018/19, but maybe that was more due to them not always giving their all or being 100% focused in previous seasons than improving/adding to what they were capable of, whereas Sema can never be faulted for attitude or workrate, whatever his limitations. But whilst he hasn't been so effective of late he did play a key part in Chalobah's goal through his determination and ability to get into dangerous areas.

And while I'm not saying the two are comparable of course, Vardy was a late bloomer and at 28 was the Premier League's second top scorer during Leicester's title-winning campaign and got an England call-up.

  30. Jumbolina

    Jumbolina First Team

Vardy is an anomaly I’d agree but even then was excelling in championship before then. Capoue had a big money move at 25 and Holebas was a mainstay at Olympiakos in this mid 20s before smashing it up for Roma at 29. Not sure Sema has come close to matching their achievements. Just looks completely bog average to me and completely one footed.

Good attitude and work rate though.

In fairness Nath, you are pretty negative about most things Watford. For what it’s worth I don’t think he’s Premier League standard but if we do go up we may find out as don’t think we will spend a lot

If we go up, I do think we’d need to upgrade that left hand side, Sema is a top 6 Championship player that is a fine squad option in the Prem - but you could say that about the majority of the squad bar Hughes and Sarr - possibly Kiko.

  33. LeedsOrn

    LeedsOrn Reservist

Agreed. No harm in giving him a new contract now (depending on the terms of course) as his value will begin to diminish with only two years left.

I would say Pedro is (or at least by the middle of next season will be) more than a top 6 championship player. Zinckernagel and Chalobah probably have ceilings above that level too, though there not currently playing at that level.

Still, look at players playing the in the prem this season. Are Luke Ayling or Liam Cooper better than top 6 championship level? Josh Brownhill? John Fleck? Ciaran Clark? Paul Dummett? Harrison Reed? Craig Dawson? I could go on. My point is that if you have a few outstanding players in your side, “top 6 championship level” players can readily play important if limited roles in the Premier League.

  34. LouOrns

Yeah I agree with that. The difference between top 8/10 in the Champ, and bottom half in the Prem is minimal

Do you really think so? Seems pretty huge to me. Maybe not so much for top and bottom 3/4 but the 12th placed Premier League team would surely dispatch the 8th place Championship team pretty easily?
