As a player, he's absolutely finished, no doubt about that, and he does seem to have far too much influence at the club. I do wonder what would happen if he's transferred to the coaching staff though, putting aside any tactical knowledge he may or may not have, it was him apparently who gave the half time team talk against Brentford which led to an improved performance, and the players credited him with geeing them up in the Bristol City game even though he didn't play

I found it strange the way the players emphasized how he had geed them up almost to a point of preserving his name/reputation and also the amount of publicity the comments got.
It did feel a bit like he was being gently pushed aside to me

Yes, a case of "...if we win this 6-0, he won't be back in the team".

Had it been 7-0 we would have shot him out of a cannon.

Is the Pie Guzzler still doing his TalkShyte segments? Not seen him say anything stupid for publicity for a while...is he learning?

I saw on Twitter that someone mentioned earlier that he was on co-commentary the other night but hasn't been in his usual Monday morning slot for a bit.

They were still peddling the fact we are doing well despite missing him on 5live last night .

Didn’t seem to give us any great credit apart from saying we had really experienced players ...like Kiko and Masina which were the examples they gave.

And that we had fallen on a good formation and style of play.

Troy doesn't get anywhere near this team, maybe even the squad when he's fit.

Unless it's written into his contract of course...

Maybe as an impact sub to play the battering ram against tired bodies, I dunno, but that really should be the extent of his contribution to this side when fit

Who instead of? Success is the better battering ram, Gray has better mobility. Not sure how he makes the bench.

He should never play for us again. It's really that simple.

A late impact player at best from now on IMO.

Not sure sticking his arm in the air and losing a header is much of an impact.

The fact of the matter is we started brightly under Ivic and team spirit seemed decent. Deeney then comes back in, performances dive, team morale dives, Ivic gets sacked, we play sluggishly under Munoz (periodically well to be fair). He is then removed from the squad and suddenly team spirit is surging and the team are on great form and producing exciting attacking football.

It must surely be obvious he is a huge negative both as a player and a personality.

It's obvious to everyone except those still living in 2015. Which unfortunately includes Gino, Scott and I suspect old grinner Munoz.

His time is up. I can't believe people still want him in or near the squad! What does he offer to this team playing as it is now? Thanks for the memories Troy. The longer you stay the more damage you are doing to your club legend status.

I don’t get all the criticism of Troy.

He’ll go down as a club legend. Nothing erases all the good memories of his Watford exploits.

I’m sure he only wants the best for the club and team and sure, as a player he wants to be on the pitch in the starting line up like all players do.

As I understand it while he’s injured he’s still around the team encouraging as Club Captain. That’s what Club Captains do.

But when he’s fit he won’t automatically get straight back into a team that’s winning.
    He’ll be on the bench.

And as he says, his support for the club and team is in person - so IMO criticism of him not tweeting his support is just ridiculous.

I can and will level many complaints at Troy for recent year's behaviour and performances. This however is silly and unwarranted.

July 2020, on the pitch at Arsenal five minutes after relegation: who knows, this might have been my last game for the club, we'll have to wait and see.

Summer transfer window via the media: I'm still a Premier League quality striker, I'm available, come and get me

March 21: relegation was personal to me, I'm the big man at club, felt responsibility to stay and put it right.

    Ok then, Troy.

Undoubtedly. Question is whether if we get promoted he can accept an impact sub role or not though. There is no way he's good enough to be a starter at 33. If he can handle being 3rd/4th choice then no-one could begrudge him that after everything he's done for the club. If he can't...

He's only now getting ready to work outside, but he'd still be a more potent option than Success against Brum!
