It could be good (if he got a decent 'ghostwriter' to 'advise'). Looking at his career aspirations just before and after his 'porridge' and would be very interesting to read his thoughts about why he didn't capped during that period.
Due to come out in September - could possibly be he knows this is his last season with us? I can't imagine he will hold back on his thoughts and feelings about anyone and everyone, if any of it is negative about the club or the owners etc then can't imagine he'd have done that whilst still playing for us? Even if he makes comments on other players / teams - doubt he'd have got the nod from the club if it's going to bring us bad publicity? Or maybe I've not learned lessons from history and I'm being very naive . Probably.
I think Troy does what he likes when he likes. The club just have to deal with it as Gino and Scott seem to be **** scared of him.
I thought that Troy's Story thing on YouTube in the summer spelt the end for him here, but it didn't, and if nobody was interested enough in him then, they're not going to be interested in him now
Scan revealed Achilles damage, going for a second scan in a few weeks. Doesn't sound like he's back any time soon then
Wasn’t there a rumour flying around that’s he's actually out for 3 months? Could have been on this forum or even this thread, but I couldn’t be bothered to check.
They'd be criticised for letting him play whilst injured and not getting a replacement in knowing once more he was carrying an injury.
He's actually had a pretty incredible injury record over the course of his career. Sounds like that's due to him playing through the pain, and that's finally caught up with him. Wouldn't be massively surprised to see him call it a day at the end of the season, and step into his media roles full time.
I was thinking exactly that. Book coming out in September as well. Does anybody know if he is doing his coaching badges?
Don't know don't care, but I sincerely hope he gets no closer to the team than the bench from now on.
After the Coventry game he basically said the ball should be lumped up field and played long which was so disheartening as a supporter as we had seen so much of it and no result. Then there was uproar from fans and we are told there was a clear the air talk by senior players, then an article released from Italy followed by the news that Deeney had Achilles problems, seems convenient timing as it was obvious to most where the confidence issues amongst players were being manifested. I dont think we will see Troy again this season if at all He's done a good job for us over the years but the managment structure aren't daft and can see as clearly as anyone he's our Achilles heel
Troy has been great for the club. But times change. And all good things come to an end. He simply is not mobile enough anymore. When you look at Toney now and him setting up players, flicking the ball on to his team mates that was the young Deeney. He can still set up players but he cannot get into games unless the ball is directly at him. In focusing our whole match plan to him we have allowed what was once a strength to become a weakness. It means the playing strengths of all our other technicians are wasted. We are playing random percentage football when Deeney is on the pitch now. Whereas in the 4-3-3 we are playing controlled percentage football. The difference a mobile striker makes is so apparent. Pulls the opposition defence out of shape, allows the forward to become a creative asset and affords other players space to run into. Pedro has played this role magnificently. Deeney cannot do this anymore. Time and injuries have caught up with him. It was apparent in the last two seasons and we were not prepared to sacrifice the talisman and paid the price. Now it seems thankfully that we have seen what was plainly obvious last season. He should be eased out of playing and if needs be into a coaching role with the club as he does have qualities to offer in mentoring players and strikers. Because at his peak he was underrated. He was no crash and bash merchant.
