I think it's usually till the end of this month but might have moved back as the season started late.
According to the FA, in the EFL if a player accrues 10 bookings up to and including the 37th match, he will get a 2 match ban.
What a commanding performance again from Francisco. Won almost everything in the air again. Cut out a couple of crosses and despite the early setback did not let it ruffle his composure. Only ruffling his man bun upsets him. His ability to pass out of the back is great too. Very calm. And brought out the ball with comfort on a couple of occasions . Simply a splendiferous chap. Another contender for POTS.
Maybe I'm getting carried away or maybe it's because I only really remember as far back as about 2003, but I honestly can't think of many better centre backs to have played for us, especially considering his age and his potential to continue to improve. If scouts of any Premier League club are doing their jobs properly then I'll be surprised if we manage to keep him if we go up.
Actually I think if we go up he will stay, but if we don't then I expect the PL teams to come buzzing around. Likewise with our other star players, if we go up I think they'll all stay, but if we don't we could be looking at losing most if not all of our best players.
I actually meant if we DON'T go up. Oops. I would expect we'll hold onto him for another season if we do, yes.
He's fantastic. That Ivic didn't rate him is absolutely bizarre. He keeps clean sheets next to T-E, which really highlights his quality.
A little bit harsh . We had a fit Cathcart and Kabasele plus no one knew that Troost is not as good as Pickford on the ball at the time. Conceding goals has not been the problem .
He's becoming one of my favourite Watford players, it feels like a while we've had a hard nut at the back. Had no idea he is only 23, thought he was ateast 28.
To be fair, Troost-Ekong arrived with far greater pedigree than Sierralta, nobody was expecting Sierralta to be anything more than about 5th or 6th choice, and with reason. Troost-Ekong started the season just fine as well, he's not really hit the heights overall, but he's still a decent Championship defender
Plus I'd say WTE was quite good under Ivic, probably dipped a bit since Xisco came in, although I don't know if that's just Sierralta showing him up
https://twitter.com/louorns/status/1370811442929278978?s=19 Seriously impressive stats against a very difficult opponent in Kieffer Moore
Upset Big Mick too. https://www.cardiffcityforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=221069&sid=aff8937930788d0562bb95273667decc Ofcourse they would have just patted each other on the back and run back to the half way line had they scored.
Engaging post match interview with him today on Hive Live. He came with his translator and there's clearly no Spanish equivalent for "clean sheet" which gave the interview a touch of the "Fast Show"! He came across well although after each answer he did look quite stern, not to say menacing. At the end he apologised and hoped to do the next interview in English next season. Love him!
Perhaps his song should be,to honour KGT and his moniker "TBFC,TBFC" etc. To the tune of "Pop Goes the World" by Men Without Talent as my dear late lamented friend Roly used to call Men Without Hats.
He was completely slagged off by loads on here before even kicking a ball for us. He's turned out to be the find of the season and no doubt one of the first on the team sheet. Great age, love his attitude and hope he plays here for many a year.
Should be a lock for the Copa America as well this summer aside from participating in the rescheduled WC qualifiers. An absolute mountain at the back. Opposition players need to be carrying a portable step ladder to have any chance of claiming the ball in the air. Sweeps everything up and his reading and positioning is getting better and better. Handsome chappie as well. @reids did mention his aerial duels statistics and where he wins the ball. Yellow dots a success red dots far less in number where he has failed to win the ball. The star is his goal.
Has anyone ever compared the 'hit-rate' of Pozzo signings from South America vs their signings from elsewhere? Feels like they consistently find gems over there. Am loving Sierralta's performances and it feels like he's one of the players who wouldn't find a step up to the Premier League too much. Great battler, and we need as many of those as possible. Vamos!
I would agree. I think you could say Kiko has been the only one who's been consistently good throughout the season, but Sierralta really encapsulates the Xisco era
Well he didn't look very assured in the League Cup games. And Kabasele, Troost-Ekong, Wilmot and Cathcart started off the season well, we had the best defence. Most people were dreading the Norwich game but boy has he taken his chance!
In fairness, he hadn't played for ages when we'd played him in the cup, a small thanks should go to the Chile national team for helping him get up to speed lol. But yeah, defence has rarely been the problem all season
If he were to excel at the Copa America albeit Chile are in a rebuilding cycle and do not have high expectations then his value would start to rocket. You see similar young centrebacks like Soyuncu or Cristian Romero at Atalanta and the values talked about regarding any possible transfer for them and he is in a similar category of ability for me.
May have missed some but they've had: Alexis, Cuadrado, Pereyra, Isla, David Pizarro, Muriel, Allan, C.Zapata, Pussetto, Aranguiz, Armero, Machis, Richarlison, João Pedro and, of course, Neuton. Very impressive stuff
