Good to see the scenes of the squad there at the end all celebrating. That really shows the spirit of the team. I think that’s the loudest I’ve cheered this season! I’d assumed it be one point after about 60 mins as we petered out a bit.

but my goodness! That is why we watch football. Such fun.

and of course Chalobah’s amazing goal!

You genuinely couldn’t write it, winning a game like that with a 94th minute free kick, breaking our 5 year free kick duck!!! U ornnnssss!!

Well, not great in terms of Swansea and Brentford's result, but a big 3 points that we absolutely had to get, the free kick curse broken and we now move on to two very winnable games in Rotherham and Birmingham.

Wasn't our best performance in terms of creating chances, but job done in the end.

If you were a Swansea/Brentford fan you’d be watching that thinking we’re just as Jammy as Swansea have been recently!

Great scenes! Great win at a tough place to play. Hopefully we can follow up with 6 points next week and put some pressure on our rivals.

GET IN! Absolutely atrocious keeping by the Cardiff GK but we will take it!

That was a seriously difficult game against a tough, physical Mick McCarthy side with all the dark-side tricks. We bossed them first half but it all seemed to go off course a bit in the second. WTE and FS really struggled with the direct approach which is a bit of a worry.

    Bad ref for a change.

But who cares. When was the last time we won a game at the death like that... And with a direct free kick no less. Feels important for the season.

Team spirit looks great by the way.

    Come on you orns!

    Quite simply a brilliant win.

First time all season we’ve got anything on the road from a losing position.

Beating the side with the longest unbeaten record in the top four divisions.

And doing so with our first goal from a direct free-kick in five years. 195 matches. 18 different takers.

And our left-back winning us the game two weeks in a row.

I was as despondent as most after the bore draw at Coventry, but fair play to Xisco and the players. That’s 7 wins from the 8 matches since.

Xisco has now won 11 of his 16 matches in charge, including 4 on the road where we had previously been so poor and defensive minded.

He’s starting to look like a master-stroke by the previously much criticised Gino.

I doubt if even Eddie H could have done that well!

Boom! I'd been a bit disappointed that we hadn't made those subs and pushed more for the winner about 15 minutes earlier, but we got there in the end.

Cardiff were surprisingly negative throughout the match (except on their set-pieces) and eventually it back-fired on them.

Sierralta was unusually shaky and T-E typically shaky, but thankfully it didn't cost us.

Sarr wasn't given any space but still managed a touch of class to win the free-kick for the goal.

Masina is still an incredibly frustrating player with the ball, but I'll give him some leeway for a bit after those last two goals.

    A huge three points.

Brilliant win, absolutely brilliant. A draw was probably fair on balance despite Sarr having a great header saved. It was very windy today but we coped well and asserted ourselves despite an early set back. Nice finish from Chalaboh and we ended the first half the stronger. Kept playing well and kept Cardiff at bay quite well. We probably nicked it - but how many times has that happened to us? Too many to count. A set peice as well? Just - what a game. Keeper did a Pantillimon. Cardiff will be gutted, so will Brentford and Swansea fans. :p

Never felt so happy to win a game since Liverpool. Three on the trot now - Rotherham (will it even go ahead)? next. Def got to be a must win. If it's off then more rest time for the side, would rather play it to keep our form going. Still right in the mix - going to be one from three surely.

Have a great night guys - well done lads. Bachmann had moments sure, but we were solid enough.

    7 wins out of 8,
    we played well all game,
    had 65% possession,
deserved the win which I'm sure will be long remembered by us Fans!

  16. A really tough game, McCarthy has built a typical McCarthy side - giants playing thuggish hoof

Our lightweight fancy dans have really grown up this year and learned to dig deep in these sorts of games

The scenes at the end there were amazing to see, I am just a little gutted that fans were not there as it would have been craziness in the away end. A very well deserved 3 points we were dominant and managed their threat well, Cardiff only had one shot on target which is pretty impressive when you think about form and the threat that they have with the style of play.

  19. Bubble

    Bubble Wise Oracle

    Yeah agreed.

Felt we deserved the 3 points personally as we were the only ones trying to play football, Cardiff were very negative for a home side in great form and surely needing the win as much as us for their own play-off ambitions?

Was lovely to see the free-kick go in and the celebration after was great! Real unity and togetherness which we will need in abundance for the last 10 games! 30 points to play for with some very winnable games coming up.

We are going to have to get use to teams like this sitting in against us, so patience is key.

Was nice to see Aden Flint's face at the end. C**t.

Impossible to overstate the magnitude of that win. We'd probably have to lose 6 out of 10 to miss out on the play offs and have a fighting chance of autos despite the tough run in.

Cardiff are some right Sunday League cloggers aren't they, right down to the off the ball niggly things like pulling hair.

Utterly controlled that game for pretty much an hour. Cardiff subs put a bit more pressure on us which in turn led to a drop off in our passing game. Looked a bit tired as well. I hope we can knock 2-3 past Rotherham on Tuesday and again on Saturday as it'd be good to be able to take off the likes of Sarr and Sema after an hour especially with a 2 week break coming up. Are we able to withdraw Sarr from international duty? I mean he could pretty much have a fair claim to be injured after each match the amount of kicking her gets.

    Oh crikey!
I woke Ford and Arthur up.
I woke Mr IBB up,he'd dropped off after ten minutes of Palace.
What an ending and what a boost to us and our chances.
I thought the chance had gone and the game was going to end in a draw.
Tennis Dave was ahead of me with his Hive but I didn't dare to believe it until I saw it.
Keeper made a hash of it but who cares!
Cardiff are very physical and make the Wimbledon of old look like Euro Disney Girls second XI.
I'm off to run around WGC with my Italian flag.
All this and a free kick goal!
    Happy weekend everyone!

I hate McCarthy's sides, and Cardiff are a complete replica of Ipswich from a few years ago.

They do everything to nullify and kill the game: kicks, dives, yells. The ref was a bit random with his cards, but at least he didn't give in to their constant tumbles after any pressure.

We were lucky to score after a pretty poor period where we ran out of ideas, but generally deserved the win.

Scoring a 95th minute goal is always excellent. Scoring your first direct FK in 5 years makes it more special. Scoring it after 95 minutes of frustrating McCarthy ball, after your closest promotion rivals had won, was incredible.

Well, what a great win. Shame that Swansea and Brentford won, but to be honest l would have taken a point from South Wales.
Cardiff did not show anyone that they were a team in an unbeaten run.
