Not too upset about Pedro picking up two yellows as he was due for a rest soon anyway. Can't play every game. But as others are pointing out, who the hell can step in with any real quality. I'd give Perica a start , he seems marginally less pants. And let's start the Zinc, give him a proper go. Chalobah suspended for two games I believe which is going to leave us pretty short in centre mid. Quina's loan move looking smarter every week.
JP was baited into a silly second yellow by the ref having lost control of the game, and all the mouthing from Muff. He lost his composure, like several did. Once it got that far, I was actually grateful that we didn't see several reds. TBF, though, I don't know how several of our players resisted punching Lerma's teeth down his throat. We need to learn from this. It's likely to get worse before it gets better. teams know that they can't play for us suing skill, they're going to try and start a punch up.
Says it all that even Gosling was going after Lerma. He knows what he's like. The SKY brown-nosing for Bournemouth also is something else. 90% of studio talk was about them, and even at the end of the programme when showing the league positions they only had Bournemouth highlighted!
Hmmm. The ref had a clear view so no real reason to take the advice of his assistant. Lino didn’t even flag. I think the ref just forgot which way he gave it given the nonsense that unfolded straight afterwards and our players were too dopey to question it. Xisco mentioned it in his post match interview.
Can’t win them all. love the players disliking muffs cheating. Can see a tense playoff game against them
The one positive from that is that when we do inevitably face them in the play offs our players should have extra motivation. Vying for automatic promotion should’ve been enough motivation on its own today, mind.
Thanks folkestone. I think I understand why some dislike that lot more than Loon. We know Loon is a flea ridden dump so it is expected that they are low life. Bournemouth however is a tranquil God's waiting room location, sun, sea and evidently inbuilt cheating. There can be no excuse for it. Cheating is the single biggest reason why young players stop competing in sport. It needs to be cut out and authorities be they tennis, golf or football are way too lenient and it does huge damage.
Everything that needs to be said about Bmuff and their players has been said. Outside of that, my frustration is with Xisco. Yet again too slow making subs. With 25 minutes to go, he should have changed it up. Lazaar, Gosling, Zinckernagel and Perica should have all come on. We should have gone 4231 Gosling Hughes Sarr Zinckernagel Pedro Perica Those three could have rotated between themselves. If we needed to go two up top the option was already there to do so. Had Xisco made these changes with 25mins to go, a different outcome would have happened. We could all see Masina and Sema were exhausted and have been around the 60th minute for the last 2 games. Just poor game management from him. Just got to hope results go our way today and then this result is a wash.
Been a bad twenty four hours. My brother now has lung lesions that look inoperable and we await a prognosis. I will not wish illness on others but `I understand the sentiment from those who do. Very hard to stomach.[/QUOTE] wishing your brother a speedy recovery and a good outcome with the tests.
Woodgate was bemused Nate didn’t get a straight red for ‘throwing a hand out’ at Lerma. And when asked why did Lerma roll around on the floor for so long, he said with an almost-straight face ‘he must have been hurt’. And also claimed he didn’t see the incident that even the Sky sycophants mentioned happened right in front of him. You can see why he got the job. The Muff board obviously base their appointments on the basis of the results of psychometric testing. If the result comes back as ‘mealy-mouthed, weasel-worded shamelessly cheating cynical cun5’, the n the job’s yours.
Well, if results do go our way today then it won't look so bad table wise, but I think we need a re-think over how we approach teams like Muff. I agree with the above about our tendency for falling into it. One thing I will not criticise to day is the defensive of each other at the end. We know we were poor today, and I hope we can stuff Wycombe now on Wednesday. Oh. and thank you to @reg_varney for pointing out the suspension over JP. Chabolah was walking a two game suspension for the past few games. Let's freshen up now, perhaps keep the same formation with Perica up top.
I'm sure we will be but our players actually showed remarkable restraint. There were two or three pushes they let go and it wasn't until Wilshere ran from our penalty box to have a go at someone (Sarr?) that our players reacted en masse. Referee was so totally out of his depth and seemed in awe of Wilshere. Didn't book him for either the late challenge on Pedro or the pull of Hughes' shirt, then let him shout "**** off" in his face from a few yards away, finally booked him for timewasting but then let him sarcastically applaud the booking. Only reason he eventually gave him the second yellow was because the linesman told him to.
The one small consolation to take from that is the rest of the Championship now know we are up for the fight. The result might not have gone our way but this teams has got each others backs.
I highly doubt that. As a fellow small club they should be angry too. Just as we should be happy at their win.
Yes, agreed. But, as we know, intent isn't necessary for a foul, just like "winning the ball" (not applicable in this case) doesn't necessarily absolve you of one either. It was a soft yellow, and were things not out of control it might not have been given, but the ref had lost the plot 90 minutes earlier. Players have to be smart enough to read that part of the game. Of course, that's easy for me to say. If I were out there I think I'd have had a straight red.
