Baffling when you consider that Woodgate only arrived two days before Tindall was sacked. He was replacing Graeme Jones who went to assist Bruce at Newcastle.

Muff play Cardiff on Tuesday, a two goal defeat will see Cardiff overtake them.

If we don't go up, we sell Sarr, Hughes and Cucho, as well as Dawson being sold permanently (assuming nothing out of the blue happens there, I'm not quite sure what the deal is, is there a future fee agreed or can we whack on an extra few million?), and wages saved on Deulofeu (plus whatever paper money we got from Udinese for him). From what I understand, Deeney's contract runs out in the summer with an option to trigger an extra year, we were desperately trying to offload him last summer, surely we're not stupid enough to trigger the extension are we?

I think we can keep hold of JP, he's done well this season, but I feel he'd best served staying an extra year in the Championship, I think, a la Sarr last summer, we'll make just enough in sales to be able to keep him as his worth to us would be far more than his worth to other clubs

And Cardiff are on **** hot form too under Mick McCarthy! Huge week for Muff with us to visit there next, putting aside any 'rivalry', I think even though they are very underwhelming this season, I'd much rather not have to play them in the play-offs if we can't reel in the top 3!

You could be right about Joao Pedro - but it will likely be another difficult window for clubs to operate in and will see some players going for low fee's as clubs will be desperate for income. I imagine those who were supposedly following Joao Pedro hoping to override our deal for him, will still be aware of him. Could see someone like City trying to turn him into a project etc. Dawson I think was £3m? And I'm not sure we will get that much for Cucho really.

As for Deeney, I did ask the question....and whilst the person I speak to wont be privy to exact contract details/lengths at all, they did say there is no chatter at all around the club about him being out of contract. Couple that with Leventhal's claims last season that an extension had already been signed (with even another year should targets be hit) and I think we have to assume Deeney will remain under contract beyond this summer. Could be wrong obviously but I don't expect it is.

Are you referring to the several years before this season when most of the goals were coming from Pereyra, Capoue, Doucoure, Richarlison, Deulofeu and Sarr, and a decent striker (which sadly Ighalo and Deeney post 2015-16 weren't, not to mention Gray) would have got us higher up the table and wouldn't have got us relegated? Because despite lacking an out-and-out striker we have a more than good team now (though we often haven't played like one) if only by Championship standards.

I was a bit surprised to realize that that was their first defeat in five, but they've been not been convincing in the previous games, so it wasn't surprising - scraped home wins and got an away draw without having a shot on target against relegation candidates Birmingham, Rotherham and Forest, OK they got a win at Burnley in the cup, but Burnley are like Bournemouth were during their Prem years in that survival is more important to them than cup runs, however comfortable they look in the league.

Reading the Muff forum and, in particular, their thread on the appointment of Woodgate, is fascinating. There are a great many parallels: a sense of fatalism; an annoyance over the lack of public communication from the hierarchy; a feeling that the club has become something of a basket case and is poorly run, with special dislike reserved for a pair of hierarchical figures known as 'Blake' and 'Hughes'; suggestions that they have misled the fanbase/are not acting within the parameters of what they had promised; and even accusations of sheet-soiling being thrown about...

If Gosling takes a dive to win a penalty there next week and then steps up to score it, I reckon that forum will literally explode.

I did call his would happen at Bournemouth when they appointed Jonathan Woodgate as interim surely their fans must have seen it coming.

Gosh if Cardiff beat them in the middle of the week I fear for the health of some of their supporters.

I know laughable like they are renowned for playing like Real Madrid. Bournemouth fans seem to he under the illusion that they play good football because the ball is on the floor, However, for a long time they have just been making five yard passes for the sake of it and have no real creativity in their game.

Surely any ‘Bournemouth way’ of football can only loosely relate to the ridiculously short period (relative to their entire existence) that EH was in charge?

Were they especially known for their swashbuckling Tika-Taka all those decades down in the third and fourth tier?

Presently, there seems quite a big correlation between Bournemouth (Howe) and Charlton when Curbishley left.

Thing is, Woodgate will be expected to get them to at least stay where they are. If they fall out of the playoff spots, you can see him too getting sacked before the season is over.

Also, I know it’s not the Championship...but Quina has scored a great goal for Granada in La Liga in the opening 10 mins.

I hate it when fans insist their team should be playing the "West Ham way", "Spurs way" etc, it smacks of arrogance and entitlement, suggesting their club has a trademark style of football that makes them special, and if they're not playing it, the manager behind it is not welcome there.

Luther might know about that, because he played for them during their second most successful period when they were in the second tier for the first and only other time and Harry Redknapp was manager!

I would think yeah fair enough if it was Tottenham, Arsenal, Man United or even Everton but Bournemouth fans giving it yammer about the Bournemouth way is hilarious, they have spent almost their entire existence in the lower divisions of English football. :D

I don't see the connection there - the "[insert club] way" refers to a style of football that according to some fans of such club is the only objectively right way for their team to play, when that is just their subjective opinion, whereas the "Pozzo model" is essentially objective (although there are varying notions as to what actually is the Pozzo model and how it should operate most effectively).

Yes, exactly. I’ve said several times we’ve never replaced Ighalo with another goal scorer after his purple patch ended. If we had one one now we would be a great team in the Championship.

The lack of self awareness from some fans on here when they jeer about Bournemouth fans is both astonishing and hilarious. How dare Bournemouth fans be disappointed with this appointment and believe they deserve better. They should stay in their box; after all they’ve been in the lower divisions most of their existence. Right? Unlike us though, yeah?
The original post from @Chumlax was interesting - there are many parallels between where our two clubs find themselves and how the fans feel about how the club is being run. As a fellow football fan, it makes me empathise with them. It’s sad that the usual suspects just ignore this and again bring up the pathetic false rivalry with Bournemouth (it’s really not a thing and anyone past the age of a teenager should realise this by now) - “wah wah, they fall over a lot, they’re only a small club they should get over themselves” etc etc
Don’t get me wrong, if this appointment means that Bournemouth become less of a threat to our own promotion hopes, then I’m all for it. But the constant sniping from some on here at Bournemouth fans for the very things that we are accused of as fans of a fellow “small club” is a bit pathetic.
