It's no surprise they would defend van dik so forcefully. Most of our fans have a premier league team they idolise over Watford as you know. Some chap on here the other day calmly stated an Arsenal player was his favourite player of all time!

Our fans never fail to sicken me to my core.

Are you gonna keep rambling on about that? I make no excuses and feel no regret for thinking Thierry Henry was more fun to watch than Darius Henderson and it's clear quite a few agree with me.

I certainly don't idolise or give a flying **** about any Premier League team - barring my passionate hatred for Liverpool - so I guess you can just

Most fans have a team or other teams they follow, but they will still have one team at heart. We can all admire any decent player and wished he played for us. No harm in that.
For me it is Watford FC. Good or bloody awful, it will not change.
I do take an interest other sides:
Arsenal (the team my Father follows)
USCO Boulogne (watched their promotion season to the Championnat and their only season in that league. They have plummeted down their pyramid system since then)
FC Annecy (close to home and unfortunately Évian TG went bust)
Olympique Lyonnais (my son told me to put that in. I prefer AS Saint-Étienne)
Seattle Sounders MLS/Seattle Seahawks NFL (lived there)
I do know some fans who refuse to consider any other teams or players other than their own team. I find that difficult to understand.

Isn’t that a bit like saying your son told you to put Watford in but you prefer Luton?

Watford - Luton or OL - St Étienne
One team from the industrial area, the other team considered glamorous.
Which category fits Watford or Luton?
My fondness for St Étienne mainly comes from their classic kit the pale green top and white cuffs with the red and blue piping on them.

Fair enough. I was thinking about the rivalry.

    I guessed that part.
No love lost between them. St Étienne losing 5-0 at home to Lyon recently was particularly hard felt.

But surely every goal Henderson scored for us gave you more pleasure than any of Henry's wonder goals.

I'd rather watch a video of Henderson watford tap ins than a video of Henry's top 5 ace goals for example.

Particularly the one against Luton and at Cardiff v Leeds.

2 goals any Watford fan will always remember from that season .

If they were back then of course !

But I do agree we can enjoy watching other players and teams .

Good one. At first l didn't get it, but then

Yeah, but I've already covered that in a previous reply? I'm not saying Henry's goals meant more to or gave me more pleasure in any way than any Watford player scoring whatsoever, obviously not, but it's also obvious that he as an individual talent did things that were just brilliant to watch, as have a lot of the best footballers in the world over the years.

Yeah. I liked Pearson. Take the covid situation, and him probably knowing he would get shafted at the end of the season, out of the equation, and we stay up comfortably.

Appointed Bristol City manager this evening.

First official match in charge will be against Swansea. He can do us a big favour!

Btw St Etienne were my favourite band of the 90s. I got to know Sarah Cracknell quite well through my media work. A really lovely person. They’re still together releasing material.

I ******* hated Henderson. Every one of his goals meant clappers would lord it over me on here.

Each one of his goals was misery. Henry's handball against the Irish, on the other hand was a beautiful moment.

I follow Man City, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Juventus and Brazil apart fron Watford.

And Man Utd of course. And Liverpool. And Arsenal for family reasons.

    Yes, followed by Bournemouth.

Their final game of the season is also against Brentford - let's hope he gives them a new manager bounce which carries through until then. It's probably a good thing we've already played them twice.

I do wonder though if he'll be the same without Shakespeare.

Used to love them, though I never really listened to much of their stuff after "Good Humour". Saw them in Manchester round about 1998, good live band.

A few years back, I'd bought tickets to watch the band in Manchester one December. The gig didn't get cancelled due to the heavy snow, but I couldn't get there beciee of the heavy snow in North Wales. Gutted, Hobart Paving is an immense tune

I went for Boro in the Last Man Standing game on this forum as they were playing Bristol C at home, the reason being BC had lost their previous SEVEN AWAY GAMES!!!

    Until tonight, cheers NP

They weren't one of my favourite Shoegazer/Baggy bands as I always found Sarah's voice too 'weak'. I *think* it was an Andy Weatherall Remix that really 'beefed-up' and 'pushed to the front' her vocals. I say Weatherall Remix - well it wasn't this one but it's getting there:

    EDIT: It was Weatherall

Arsenals training ground is closer than Watford's and that's where the club is most of the time.

    They're basically my local team

    Another fellow Saint Etienne fan.
Just a small point of order that Sarah Cracknell did not sing on the brilliant ‘Only Love Can Break Your Heart’ - this was Moira Lambert.
Anyway a superb band that I associate with a brilliant era. Apart from what was going on at Vicarage Road, the mid 90’s were such a good time to be moving through your late teens!
