Agree. Still think it’s unlikely we’ll make the auto prom spots too. Though it’s less unlikely than it was a week ago.

Just forget him. You have Cathcart and Bachmann as your new boo boys now.

I’ve been thinking for some time this will be a Dallas like dream sequence, we get promoted and when we next get into the grounds we’ll be playing Everton on opening day and the whole relegation thing won’t have happened.

I already think we picked a good time, if there is such a thing, to get relegated. Didn’t have to witness it live, didn’t have to put up with the Gooners mocking us, didn’t have to put up with Luton supporters giving it large before trashing the town.

I like that. He haunts me.

Bachmann is ok, but he has a major flaw as a keeper. Exposed as he plays more games. Check his career reports.
Cathcart is limited, but has done well in his career. I just found the banging of his head at Bournemouth funny and memorable. God! He was awful that night.
No other boo boys, but please feel free to suggest any player you wish.
I have time on my hands.

It was a very high risk, high reward time to get relegated - if we manage to go straight back up, it will be a bit like some kind of simulated fever dream - an odd hallucinogenic blip on our record before normal service resumes.

If we don't, however, then financially it's a terrible time to have been relegated, and could have consequences on what kind of club we are for years to come. Inequality may well shift even further between the Prem and other leagues as a result of COVID, and the standard players/teams that are independently super-rich thanks to an owner may become even more entrenched.

Scott was saying earlier in the season that the club can adjust its budget quite flexibly and we do still have a few player assets. The more broke EFL clubs get, the bigger our competitive advantage cos of the Pozzo network. It's been much maligned recently (including by myself) largely cos of their failure to buy a goalscorer but if u look at the last 6 months: we got relegated, lost an entire team of players, most of whom are still playing top flight football and the Pozzos were still able to put together a really good Championship squad who with the right manager and without the Deeney issue would probably have cruised to promotion.

It's becoming increasingly clear that the next 15, 17 or 18 games will define our season.

Is this what happened to us also; change of personel upfront resulting us play better and scoring more? Not actually new signings, but it just shows, that this game is about scoring goals. It also affects your whole set of play; attacking is the best way to defend. Suddenly it takes pressure of other players and therefore there are less mistakes on the other end of the pitch.

Especially when the VAR stated he hadn’t actually looked at all the camera angles. And the Spurs foul on GD was not a sufficiently big error to overturn because the way the pitch falls away near the goal-line meant the on-field ref would not have been able to get a clear view.

It's fair, I don't think we're about to go into administration, but the full core of this team that they've put together to make this Championship squad, or more accurately retained, will leave - if Hughes, JP, Sarr, and I guess Chalobah considering how close he got to escaping a couple of weeks ago, leave, then we're already decimated with far less of a natural advantage over our opponent, missing basically all key drivers of the position we find ourselves in now aside from Kiko (who may or may not be happy to stick around further himself), and still without a recognisable centre forward with the chuckle brothers still in bloody contract.

It won't be ruinous for us financially, but that's partly because we'll have to sell all those assets for tens of millions, and that will make it a far less enjoyable (hah) experience in subsequent seasons here - particularly if, as is looking suddenly rather more possible, Newcastle manage to get themselves relegated.

Bournemouth have appointed Woodgate until the end of the season - his record really hasn’t been any better than Tindall’s so I don’t get the logic.

I’d go as far as saying I think they might struggle to make the playoffs. That’s a terrible decision by them.

Wow, what the ****, either Henry or Montreal must have absolutely told them to get ****ed - I'm shocked by that, he's terrible and his record as interim with them is terrible - it seems like they're essentially admitting defeat!?

Thought he had only lost 1 in his spell as manager but then not had the hardest of runs .

But Tindall had them up there and lost the same amount as a percentage against games played. Not to mention Woodgate’s terrible CV at Middlesbrough.

Maybe there’s more to it - but their fans are up in arms on social media. Looks a really poor choice.

If we dont go up we'll lose Sarr. I don't think JP would push for a move, he seems really happy with his progress here. Hughes may well stay another year too. The point is that in that scenario the Pozzos would bring in more players most of us have never heard of like Sierralta who turn out to be pretty good. My biggest concern was that Gino and Scott seemed to have completely lost the plot with 442 Deeneyball when we had Sarr JP and Sema. Now they've woken up and smelt the coffee I'm a lot happier!!

One of the biggest issues for us if we don’t go up (alongside the obvious financial issues and squad decimation) will be if Udinese ever get relegated. We’ll lose the ability to essentially borrow Serie A standard players, as well as their ability to name a player on their bench and get them 12 points towards a work permit here.

Their fans seemed to think that Henry the Hoover wanted more cash so perhaps they've not been impressed with Wagner,Natalie Wood and the others.

I’m just glad they won’t have the new manager bounce when we play them. Didn’t Woodgate come in to learn from Tindall? So it all seems very odd considering Tindall was EH’s understudy under whom it went backwards/stale. They also said they weren’t even considering Woodgate so I guess the reality is they clearly couldn’t get/afford anyone else so have ended up with the understudy of the understudy.

While I appreciate the optimism, players like Joao Pedro and Hughes - whilst potentially happy to stay - will be our most marketable assets. We are in a world of trouble financially if we don’t go up. Even more so if fans don’t return to stadiums soon. That will be the factor that overrides any ambitions.

If we don’t go up, selling Sarr alone won’t cover the deficit. Other big assets will have to go too. Especially given it’s accepted that Gray is going to be extremely hard to shift and Deeney probably has a year left given the extension he reportedly signed (please don’t reply with a long diatribe about Deeney...no offence but we all know the issues there!).

Put simply - if we don’t go up, I don’t think anyone should expect to see Sarr, Hughes, Joao Pedro (and probably others) here next season irrespective of their happiness. The finances will dictate they move on.

I watched their game against Bournemouth yesterday and to be fair Austin hardly done anything. I think they would have been fine without him and still would have won. In all honeaty QPR didn't look amazing they were gifted the first goal as Mepham tried to play out from the back and passed it straight the QPR player in the box and they caught Bournemouth on the break for the second. Bournemouth should have been out of sight but it was unfortunate for them they had their own version of Andre Gray playing up front in Shane Long.

To be honest Bournemouth looked poor they looked more like a side around 10th than a side who had ambitions of automatic promotion. It was a nice surprise when I woke up this morning to see that Woodgate had been given the job on a permanent basis, off the back of a draw against Forest, an undeserved win at home to Rotherham and a loss against QPR .

Their reasoning seems to be Woodgate is familiar with the squad. Any new manager wouldn’t be and it’s too crucial a point in the season for a new face to come in with new ideas.

Yeah, it just then makes sacking Tindall seem odd when he was even more familiar with the squad and Woodgate was there to learn from him. But the odder the better really!

You'd think Bournemouth would have a pretty good pull for good managers. A real chance to get someone in that will guarantee playoffs. What they've done instead is put themselves out of the top four group and into the 5-10 group.

Won't laugh too much though until after our game...

Remember all those years when Muff's transfer policy seemed to be sneaking a look at who we were interested in and then copying it? This is just the natural progression - they've ported that over to the business side of the club, sneaked a look at how to run like a basket case, and copied it.

On a sidenote, this is pure 100% grass-fed conjecture, but I wonder if in a further lesson, Muff approached Montreal in a derisory manner thinking 'it's just MLS' and got told to *** off in turn.
