The old cliche one game at a time for us. Our home games look comfortable on paper. Like you say next 2 games !

I would agree, but goals not disallowed against us when the ball hit players arms and the penalty we did not get at Spurs make you wonder.

Such is the championship, I look at that and just see a random blur of pretty much the same generic teams each of us have to play.

I do agree the Spurs one was odd.

Thing is, I have a feeling most clubs get these sorts of decisions every now and then but unless you are a total football nerd you are only aware of those involving your own team.

Agree, wouldn’t mind Chair from them. One good thing about The Championship is hopefully our recruitment team have looked at some of this divisions best talent up close and personal so IF we go up we’ll be able to target some of them.

That’s exactly it. I’ve a friend who supports Southampton and he never stops going on about Doucoure’s hand ball goal against them, even now. As a fan you tend to cling on to the injustices but you forget about the lucky breaks and have virtually no idea about other teams dodgy decisions.

That was a dodgy decision that we benefitted from, but it was before VAR. Exactly the sort of error VAR should correct.

Yeah absolutely, I just mean to my friend it’s something that sticks in his mind because it negatively affected them. Like we remember the spurs one mentioned above because it negatively affected us.

So we are faced with the unpalatable prospect of wanting Loon to win two games.
I need to prepare myself thoroughly for this.

Yeah, such is the condensed fixture schedule, such is the need to rotate players that I don't think it matters if a team is on a really good or really bad run of form, we've had 2 runs of 3 wins in a row, but nothing more than that, and at the same time, I don't think we've gone more than 3 games without a win all season, despite playing mediocre stuff for the majority of the season

Yep amazing really. Three games ago Brentford were 9 points ahead and I thought we had no chance of overhauling them. It might turn again of course but incredible how it can turn around in 8 days.

Only thing is, the dodgy calls that have gone against us in recent seasons were almost all packed into one season where just one of those could have saved us ffs

I thought it was time for the engravers to write Brentford's name on the trophy 3 games ago! Now they've got some time with Toney and Henry out...how's your nerve Brentford?

While I don’t disagree, it remains true that if Mariappa hadn’t scored an absurd own goal under zero pressure, or Troy missed that penalty, we would not have been relegated. As I said above, it’s always much easier to blame others than yourself.

Agree with this. Not like the Premiership when you look at a few fixtures and just worry about keeping goal difference under control e.g. Man City

all seem to be capable of beating each other - no one is invincible

We owe Coventry a lot this season, ‘clear the air talks’ after our game with them meant we dispensed with 4-4-2, they injured Deeney and beat Brentford today.

Really enjoying the positivity on here at the moment . Barely a bed wetter in sight . I was feeling pretty negative before the derby match . I didn’t really see things changing and though automatic promotion was an impossible dream . But here we are a week later, some great results, much improved football and the table looking positive.

I hope we can follow this up with some more solid performances and results though .

    Alright then...

I think this is our good run. Others will have those before the end of the season, and our next two games look tricky. We are still behind Brentford (just) and Swansea will be ahead if they get enough points from games in hand.

I am confident we will make the playoffs. But I still think it is unlikely we will be automatically ponoted,

Exactly, four of the top six lost in this round of fixtures against teams obviously lower down in the table. You’d honestly be just as well having your final 6 games against the top 7, over playing Wycombe off the back of a 10 game losing streak. There is zero logic to this league.

Or Hughes hadn't conceded a penalty against Sheff Utd, or Gray hadn't missed a sitter against Palace. Brainfarts as well as dodgy decisions at both ends of the pitch played their part in our getting relegated.

In a few months we will be rid of Covid and the Championship and life will pick up where we left it.

I think many of us were guilty of underestimating QPR, myself and some of our players included. It's clear that Austin, who signed on 9 Jan and made an instant impact, scoring their opening goal at the Scum, has been a major factor in their resurgence which had already begun before they played us. Probably they were only a decent striker away from being a good team all along, and although their form has probably come too late for a play-off challenge, they could be really good next season with a settled squad and more astute signings. Hopefully that won't matter to us though!

All their good players will leave in the summer. They are a small selling club, which is exactly what we have to look forward to if we don't go up this year.

Just when the memory of that totally stupid own goal by Maricrappa was fading.
That goal highlighted his career at Watford. As you said, no pressure on him, no one near him, a cross which would have gone out for a throw in and yet he smashes the ball into his own net. What a tool.

I was thinking the same thing, probably the team I'd most want us to avoid should we end up in them.

I am concerned about our ability to defend a cross or a corner. We are bloody awful to be honest.
Having watched Bachmann flap like crazy, will Xisco bring Foster back, if fit?
Bachmann has made some great saves,, but he is known to wave his arms at the sight of any ball crossed into his area.
One game at a time, play our strongest team and the players put a shift in to achieve the results we all wish for.
