I just think he seems pretty average. Yeah, I guess he could improve, but he's hardly a kid anymore.

I think Bachmann is fairly average.

I think Foster is about the same, with less motivation to perform.

Another win for our recruitment team.

I hope Foster doesn't get back in the side. His heart obviously isn't in it anymore.

Also, and more importantly, it will really screw up the viewing figures for his youtube channel.

An in form Foster is better than an in form Bachmann. An out of form Foster is worse than an in form Bachmann.

Was Foster out of form? He's been easily one of our best players this season

Foster is past his best and we should let him go. Bachmann can still improve and has not really done anything wrong. We should stick with Bachmann and bring back Dahlberg next season to challenge him.

He also seems better than average at not spilling those awkward daisy cutter shots back into the centre of the goal, which is quite important on the type of surfaces we are playing on.

I'd be concerned with Bachmann in the Prem...but you never know until he's tested at that level.

I get the impression Foster is happy go lucky at Championship level, but wouldn't be as blasé @ Premier League status...however he is proven at the top level and I'd have more trust in Ben at this stage.

  13. Dan Bachmann hasn't put a foot wrong yet. As I posted on the game thread he looks the most comfortable with the 'modern keeper' ball at feet of all our recent keepers.

Foster is number 1 when fit. Bachman playing well but his distribution is woeful.

Bachmann's distribution still needs work but it's a definite improvement on Foster's, for me

Foster is still a great keeper but he's getting worse, not better. Bachmann is still young in GK terms and already looks very capable. Very vocal and has played his part in organising a defence that has secured 6 clean sheets in 8 games. Would be silly to replace him when Foster returns.

Foster makes more spectacular saves but I'm starting to wonder if that's due to his late reactions, and average footwork? Watching some of the 'routine' saves Bachmann has made, he's made them look easy thanks to proactive movement on his line and good anticipation.

Foster hits a yellow shirt more for me. Fosters mistakes have been real howlers (saints at home) Bachman makes these errors but it’s not cost us yet so they’ve not been highlighted. Watch how many times Bachman over hits or puts a player in an uncomfortable position or gives it straight to the opposition when not really under pressure.
I like Bachman but right now he’s still just a decent back up.

Yeah, neither are great, distribution-wise. Bachmann makes more passes per game and has a higher pass completion % at the moment. Although I suppose that could be down in part to a slight change of style under Xisco

Foster will be 38 by the time the season is finished.

Definitely time for him to become a back-up option.

Should be 3rd choice next season (if he wants to stay) behind Dahlberg & Bachmann

The Bachmann has improved and his confidence has grown immensely. His communication is good, the defence trust him and there is no comparison between his distribution and Fosters. He is 100% first choice.

I ignored the pole at the top for obvious reasons

I think people have negative thoughts about Bachmann purely because he isn’t as much of a proven name compared to Foster / Gomes but in reality he has yet to put a foot wrong.

His distribution is very good and often picks out decent passes. He is athletic in the saves and quick to react. He doesn’t mess around trying to throw out early or punch many crosses. He is the most vocal player on the pitch by a mile. I’d have him as number 1 any day over foster.

I imagine a lot of people have/had negative thoughts about Bachmann because of his contribution to the Tranmere **** up at home last season.

And they'd be very silly to be basing their opinion on second string cup games. Much like those who wrote off Sierralta based off the Newport game

Looked very dodgy on crosses yesterday but Derby did put in some good deliveries.

Let’s face it, in the main our defence has been immense this season so it’s going to be difficult to judge him completely accurately, as he doesn’t face an awful lot of pressure at this level and is protected very well.

If we end up getting promoted then will he be good enough to face regular barrages from the opposition? Possibly not based on last night, but he’s a perfectly decent championship keeper.

It was a derisory poll for this average back-up keeper we have.

I think Bachmann is capable at this level, but I can't see him ever being our number 1. Foster and his gopro comes straight back in, and we sign a new keeper if we get promoted.

Foster capable of making silly errors. What I like about Bachmann is his ability to hold onto shots low down, doesn't seem to spill many.

There is also a business decision here. Bachman with a string of Championship clean sheets under his belt is an asset. Maybe not big dosh, but a couple of million.

As a reserve keeper who never played, he was worthless.

Foster has no resale value and his wages are probably unsustainable in the Champ

Name one keeper who hasn't made silly mistakes!
He imo is making the Jersey his own. His stats confirm this. Yesterday you have to credit Derby's delivery from set pieces they would of caused problems to any side.
Overall his handling is excellent good with his feet what more could we of asked for?
