One thing I really like about him is the no nonsense way he puts the ball out. If he’s under pressure near the touch line he just knocks the ball out and gets back to his position. Low risk sensible play of a type we’ve lacked in recent seasons.
That wasnt our typical 1-0 win via soft penalty. Even though it was a very typical 1-0 win via soft penalty.
Are you incapable of being positive about the team you claim to support, why do you always have to make a negative comment
It's all too easy for Sierralta. Be interesting to see how he'd cope a league above but at this level he absolutely pisses it
Haha Going Down, I forgot that one lol I did indeed. You didn’t get the point of my post though I think. I wasn’t criticising anybody for any of their previous opinions on him. That’s not my style. I was merely saying if he is any of the negative things we’ve called him on here, then bring it on because it seems to be working! Let’s enjoy tonight’s win as one on here!
Having an ongoing debate with my son about stinkerangle. His performance tonight supported my point of view entirely. I hope he beds in and improves, but the evidence so far is that his transfer fee was about right. He has time to make things right. I told my son, he plays like he is stoned. Have to concede, it is difficult to make an impression as a sub, so won’t give up on him just yet. Others players performed admirably. Some will have tired legs after two big games. Nice recovery over the next few days and a chance of three wins on the bounce.
You're right about the quality, but at the same time if you paid for Hive every game of the season, you'd have shelled out £460 by the end of the season - I'll take the respite wherever I can get it.
I never thought we were threatened. Patches of nice passing and again sweet touches from JP,one which won the penalty. I'm going to send a few words for the commentator to use, other than "lurking", "obdurate" and "steadfast." Pancake frenzy!
I mean, he's looked pretty good in all the short cameos afforded him before tonight. As you say, not only is he still never even getting a half to get into the game, or indeed English football in general, but he's mostly not been dreadful - tonight was a low point, but there's plenty of signs of quality, including in the last game (and no, I don't just mean the tap-in).
Sierralta is a monster, NOTHING gets past him in the air! Made that one mistake, but credit to Bachmann, didn't have much to do, but came out well and made it difficult for Evans. Zinckernagel did look off the pace, and worryingly lightweight, how much of that is because we've only seen him in fits and bursts...I don't know, I wonder if he'd be more suited to a freer role as a #10
We were the better team for sure, but we just can't create good enough chances in our away games. Another grateful penalty accepted and has given us a vital, vital win. Had we failed to take 3 points tonight it would have looked very bleak for the auto's. That dream is still bubbling along though, but it's going to take a string of victories back-to-back to put us in a realistic position. How good is our defense though? I thought we invited pressure on occasions by playing in tight areas and allowing the press and Preston almost scored an equalizer in a late scrappy melee, but we held firm. 15 clean sheets from 30 games. I think that is now a club record. So well done, that is an awesome effort. Should have scored a second, and I don't know how that doesn't go in deep into injury time. I was concerned we may regret that, but it didn't matter in the end. First win at Deepdale since 1979 and only the second league win in our history. So that's good to lay that unwanted record to rest. 12 more wins (at least), That has to be the target, 16 games left. No room for f*** ups now.
He looks Prem quality to me. Fantastic signing, if you can call a inter club free from Udinese a signing. Is he so good that he eradicates the atrocious signing of Gray ?
Zinkernagel is a carbon copy of Layun. Takes forever because he still thinks he's in the farmers league
Didn’t hit the heights of Saturday but was an improvement compared to some of our other performances , in terms of energy and moving the ball quickly. We played sone nice football at times , but the final ball was a bit disappointing at times , but Preston were defending in numbers . Follow this up with another hone win and we might be back in the hunt for autos
I've said that before as well - at least it would mean that he can find pockets where he doesn't have to try and dribble passed anyone and he's less likely to repeatedly lose the ball in dangerous areas. However, on his showings so far I don't think he should be on the pitch at all unless we're already winning by at least 3 goals.
A nod to Munoz. Only two games ago he was hanging on to his job for dear life. Two victories later including the biggest league win since Sunderland 8-0, has put him in a different light. His record:- P 10 W 6 D 2 L 2 F 15 A 5 Pts 20 The only real blot was that silly and unnecessary home defeat to QPR, but 20 points from 10 games is a decent enough return.
We must be close to some sort of record for consecutive penalties scored? I make our last miss Troy against Spurs last season. We’ve scored 9 this season, a penalty shootout in the carling cup, one in pre season and however many we scored in the PL after Troy’s miss.
We’ve now kept 15 clean sheets this season. Different and lower league I know, but what a huge improvement from last season. Another stat I posted earlier on this thread is that we are yet to concede first in a league match under Xisco. That’s just as well, as away from home this season we’ve lost every match in which we’ve fallen behind. And in fact we’ve only taken points in one single home match in which we were behind too, against Stoke. This season more than any other I can remember scoring first seems so so important.
