Well done Munoz. Given us the best chance. Would have played Wilmot though not sure why he is out of favour
I'm purchasing a match pass on Hive for the first time since the last time I said I'd never do so again.
I like that. Would personally have put Wilmot in as I’m a big fan of his but in fairness to Cathcart I thought he looked very assured before his injury so he’s not a bad option at all.
Me neither, though Cathcart is fine and Wilmot will probably get on the pitch at some point. Likely to be a harder test than Brizzle. Let’s hope we reach those levels and not give way tamely after 20 minutes when we find out the opposition also wants to play.
Think Cathcart gets an odd/undue amount of credit for that based solely on the odd Gerrard Hollywood quarterback attempt coming off, and Wilmot is far better on the ball than Cathcart, so now that we're not going down the usual 'bang it up to no one' route anymore, it seems strange to me.
Yes-I was there as well that night. Patching only scored 3 times for us with one of the other two in our final game of 82/83 beating Liverpool-so he saved them for very special occasions (he didn't play that much-missed all of 81/82 and almost all of 82/83)
Was it Preston or Oldham after the Southampton match. The game of the 7-1 biro and Patching's bad knee injury.
Wow that was pretty poor. Preston on top with all the half chances. Yet again starting so slow away. Need to get our game on SH.
We've gone from facing Premier League strikers like Aubameyang to Premier Inn predators like Ched Evans. I'll grab my coat.
Preston have a parked bus and are looking to get through the game with anything they can. They would never get away with it if their fans were in the ground.
TBF that last 10 mins we could have done with chuckle brother number 1 with his put it in the corner stuff Cleverley work rate once again in the middle was fantastic, Hughes is creamy in the anchor role Zinc and Perica both a bit wet paper bag It was never going to be good game on a pitch that looks like it's being used to grow turnips A resilient performance
Wasn't particularly pretty but we were playing against a team who José-d from minute 1, and we looked better in our application and attitude from the off than pretty much any other away match this season. A workman-like fight to the three points in the end, though the negatives were the pure terribleness of EZ-PZ and the fact that we clearly never had that killer mentality or boldness in the finall third/ball/etc. Hopefully it's something to build on, and that isn't the height of our away ambitions from now until the end of the season, but if it is it was worth three points, so hey.
Sort of win you get on the Tuesday nights. We'd get more if we scored from corners or free kicks. El Gaucho imperious at the back.
