niggling injuries - dented pride ?, damaged shoulder from carrying chips? , strained groin? (from his comment re Arsenal) I truly like Deeney and it is such a shame so many are so annoyed by him, but hopefully this is the team for the future. He is one of Watfords true legends. COYH
Thank fxck for that. The penny has eventually dropped. Glad to see Cathcart back although Troost has done well since he decided to stop passing to the opposition (and apart from the two goals he cost us against QPR) My god, Im actually feeling positive about this game. Weird feeling.
Hoping for a Watford FC medical staff special here, here's hoping he's out for the rest of the season!
Hopefully the same sort of performance as on Saturday but it's away and Preston do have a bit of form.
Couldn't ask for a better lineup. Much more hopeful of three points now. To be honest I was dreading seeing wholesale changes. Let's hope we put in another shift tonight . I don't expect us to win 6 nil, but I do expect a better performance than Coventry.
Shows just how little troost he has that Troost is actually on the bench - he's not even injured, so it's actually an 'I'm doing this to rotate' move.
He'll also be some 5ft nothing flame-haired (not ginger) Glaswegian psycho. Welcome to Scottish elite football.
Happy and relieved with the line up as most are. I think Deeney just physically isn’t up to it anymore sadly. Had that op in the Summer and has never looked fit since. At 32 it’s very hard to see him getting back to his best. At his physical prime he was one of the best strikers in recent Championship history, but I think that is past now. I hope he can have a dignified end to his Watford career and be remembered as the legend he is.
Between the lads saying Troy was responsible for firing them up Saturday and now a few knocks it feels like it's about not damaging pride with Troy Hopefully we get some entertainment now at least
However they have to spin Troy being nowhere near the side is fine with me. I’ll happily accept whichever excuses they roll out for us. No excuses now, after the performance at the weekend. Time to kick on and make a real point.
Why do I get this horrible feeling we will be subjected to a horrible 0-0, no shots on target and realising Bristol City was an anomoly as Reading stick 9 past them tonight.
How long is a 'short period of time'? How long is a 'piece of string'? A couple of niggling injuries? Left leg not moving quick enough, right leg not moving quick enough?
Awesome! One angle camera red button will do me fine - just pleased I get to see this team and formation. Don’t need to see a big win, just some entertainment that’s been missing most games.
I still believe Deeney - motivated and fit(ish) - can contribute something positive before the end of the season. Probably coming off the bench though
Yes. Anybody expecting Preston to roll over like Bristol may well be disappointed. We should beat them, but it won't be as easy.
What are we going to do without Deeney in the dressing room to tell the lads to play well? Can he give his inspirational team talk on Zoom or something? Hopefully so.
Agreed. Yet another young player who's development we are completely ******* up. Playing Cathcart ahead of him at this point doesn't make a single shred of sense.
What's the state of the Deepdale pitch. If it's not an absolute carpet then the ready made excuse for our usual cr@p away performance will be wheeled out quicker than our erstwhile Club Captain's favourite dessert trolley.
As Dirty Harry says "A good man knows his limitations" and also the time to hang up your boots or move on.
It's not even like we need a bigger, more aerially dominant like for like replacement, because it's Sierralta being replaced, not WTE, and Wilmot is actually at least as good in the air thanks to aggression and tenacity. Can only assume Munoz is seeing him as a Femenia replacement/rest-guy, which I can kind of understand but I'd certainly hope is not a long term (and by that I mean more than two or three games) conception.
As they pointed out on their own forum, their home form is terrible - the third worst in the division IIRC. Our smashing of them at The Vic earlier in the season was a huge anomaly, so there's no reason/excuse for us with this lineup not to take it to them and dominate the game. A mild concern at the poster who predicted we would try and play through them and thereby play right into their hands, as that's exactly we can expect to be doing, but we can only really hope that that play will be at too high a level for them to nullify it using their usual methods.
Wilmot's distribution/passing from the back hasn't been great at times. That's maybe why he not playing. Cathcart can/has done that better.
