I just hope it's in the semis & not the final. I haven't fully recovered from the last Wembley thrashing yet.

Wouldn't surprise me if half the fcukers don't really want to get promoted as most of them aren't anywhere need the level required. Deeney, Gray, Chalobah, Perica, Cathcart, Gosling etc. will all be either discarded or at best warm the bench if we go up. Probably Cleverley and Femenia too although both have been OK this season. Hardly great motivation.

I think we’ll muddle along to the playoffs. We probably only need 8 or so more wins in our remaining 19 games. Don’t think Boro or Stoke have enough quality to overhaul us, particularly going food.

Blackburn seem the biggest threat - in Elliott and Armstrong they have two of the league’s best attacking players, and they have strengthened their attack well this window with Branthwaite and Harwood-Bellis. Important to remember though that Bournemouth are looking pretty poor at the moment and Reading are incredibly reliant on Joao remaining fit.

You don’t get automatic pronation based on a reasonably good defence, Troy scoring a penalty every 3 matches, no away form whatsoever and no other real goal threat.

We will be near ish the bottom of the playoffs.
I think we will lose any semi due to having no desire and no goal threat.
If we somehow go through (penalties I’d guess) what would Wembley be like? Such a happy hunting ground for us recently. We are going to inevitably lose there again we’d just be the bridesmaid again. At least lockdown means we won’t have to go. I’m not sure I even would.

I don't think we'll even make the play offs. We are too short in midfield and attack. Teams like Boro, Blackburn, Bristol City and Stoke must eye us as the weak link in the top 6. Watching last night as a neutral you would have thought QPR were the team in the top 6 and we were and bottom half side. The team and possibly the whole club need a reset. We need new owners with new ideas. We need more players suited to English football. Sarr and Pedro have looked nothing special lately and we do not seem to be able to get the best out of them. We are hamstrung with the wages of Deeney and Gray. Get them two off the wage bill and you could replace them with a whole new team wages wise. Offer them free transfers at the end of the season and allow them to command a signing on fee for a new club to offset their loss of wages. If they had any decency they would consider this for the future of the club. What did Gray contribute last night. Mis-controlled in a decent situation and got caught offside several times. He does not have a football brain or a footballers ability. If we even had an old dinosaur like Colin in charge I honestly think we would be in a better place.

I can't see it atm. It's simple goals wins games and we don't have a threat at all.

We could get lucky by changing our formation. What formation that is with the squad imbalances we have is purely guesswork on my behalf.

Kiko and Masina sorely missed and it's another embarrassing result of recruitment. No wonder Ivic couldn't give a flying in the end.

Xisco has never seen let alone heard of Zinckernagel if he sticks him in the CM position. Feel sorry for him after the season he had.

I'd like to see a 4-2-3-1 just to mix it up. Sarr as the spearhead, Zinc and Sema wide maybe Cleverly in the centre. Nate and Hughes DM. But I honestly don't know. The defence should pick itself depending on whose fit.

I'm not worried about Boro, Bristol City or Stoke tbf, but Blackburn are a real dark horse with some insanely good young players, could be a real threat next season if they keep hold of them

Hope not. Unless things change massively we'll be an embarrassment if we go up.

Time to build a new team around Hughes I think.

I agree, apart from this league is so shyt I think we will scrape through to the play off final (0-0, 1-0 Deeney (pen)) then go out with a whimper in the final (0-1 AET, shots 0, possession 36%).

Yep, we desperately need some injuries to force Xisco's hand and pray he somehow flukes his way to finding a winning formation.

We will make the play offs and get knocked out in the semis but I don't see us getting battered. No one has really smashed us this year.

I like Blackburn a lot think they are the biggest threat this season, but in terms of next year, they do have a lot of loanees - Elliott, Harwood-Bellis, Branthwaite. They'll have Pickering coming in next season, but don't see how they replace the quality of Elliott. Armstrong only has a year or so left on his contract, so wouldn't be surprised to see a promoted team or a bottom half premier league side pick him up for 10-15m in the summer - and suddenly they'll have to build their attack from scratch again.

Harwood-Bellis and Branthwaite were brought in just last month, wouldn't surprise me if they stay there for next season. Besides, it does seem as if they have a good working relationship with the big northwest clubs, seems a sensible option to loan their youngsters to

Powder puff attack. Only one shot on target against a side 17th in the table. Not good enough only getting one point in 2 games against a team like QPR who are comfortably a bottom half of the table side. Relying too much on Deeney and Sarr, neither of whom is likely to score even 15 goals this season. Gray tries hard but won't reach double figures. Needed to sign at least 2 proven goalscorers in the transfer window. Promotion will not be achieved by losing at places like Barnsley and Huddersfield. Too many points thrown away from a winning position, trying to grind out boring 1-0 wins. A novice manager. Virtually no chance of finishing in the top 2. About a 40% chance of being in the play offs. Based on current form and the poor goalscoring record, I don't fancy our chances in the play-offs at all, whoever we might have to play against.

If you're sure we won't make top 6 then you can bet against it at betfair, currently 1.29. A £100 bet against it will cost £29 if we make the playoffs and £100 profit when we don't.

Edit: Apologies, I just took all the 1.29. Up to 1.3 now.

Despite everything that's been going on - The change of manager, the lack of a goalscoring striker, the 'rollercoaster ride' in the forum, my start of season expectations are still being managed which was that I hope we finish in the top 6. Come on you Hornets! :)

The games at Birmingham, when Chamberlain made that save, the Play-Off Final win against Bolton with Nicky Wright's overhead kick. The 3-0 Semi Final 1st Leg win at Paliss and the 3-0 win over Leeds in the 2006 Play-Off Final, what fantastic memories.
We had much more entertaining team in both 1999 and 2006 than we do now, even though theoretically we have more talented players now. The trouble is the team doesn't seem to look like scoring and I get the feeling that too many of the players just don't seem to care.

Yes, what an improvement in the last 5 weeks or so, must admit I didn't see this coming, 8 wins out of 9 and we're scoring a few goals at last, even Gray has managed to score 3. Hughes, Sarr, Sierralta and Pedro all playing very well. I just hope they can keep this run going. Our last 6 fixtures of the season look tough, having to play all of the top sides, Norwich, Brentford, Swansea and Reading, plus Millwall and L#ton (away)
