This transfer window has PROVEN what we already know. The Pozzo is a conman who will take us down! This window we have sold ALL OUR BEST PLAYERS: Capoue was OUR BEST PLAYER Dulofu was really good and could have played for us Quina is so talented We have signed no players. That's right ZERO incomings. Let that sink in. Most other teams have made numerous shrewd acquisitions but we are SKINT. Win tonight and we will go level with 2nd place. But don't let our relentless winning fool you. We are AWFUL and are going down.
I hope you're ready for the barrage of abuse or incredibly funny posts that no doubt this thread will be littered with
Where is the option... if we don't get promoted THIS SEASON our best players aren't going to stay in the championship, so NEXT SEASON we could end up with a squad of just FOUR players, that's right FOUR: Deeney, Gray, Foster (in it just for the crack) and Gosling. And if we have just FOUR players we will get relegated to league ONE.
I mean, you say this faectiously, but if we don't go up this year, that's us well f*cked. Then relegation to League 1 is a definite possibility. And its totally fair that people aren't exactly blown away by Dan Gosling, a 3rd choice keeper and a player from the Norwegian league....
I hadn't realised that Dan Gosling was a 3rd choice keeper from the Norwegian league but I learn something everyday on this forum.
Seriously of course you are right. Gino should have rolled the dice, all or nothing, and signed a few new players for a few £ms. Promotion or administration maybe, but frankly there's little point in supporting a side that isn't in the prem so there's no real downside....
Bit rich to disparage other posters’ wit given the deeply strange attempts at humour the opening poster consistently fires out......... He even thought it was important and funny enough to start his own thread this time. We are truly a broad church
Please accept my apologies, I didn't realise that the recruitment team actually using their f*cking brains once in a while was synonymous with spending millions and millions of pounds and going into administration. Its a shame they didn't show such enlightened thinking when they offered Deeney and Gray a combined £150K a week for 5 years.
The fact we're absolutely not getting promoted this season and the clear financial disaster we're on the verge of means that there's really not anything unrealistic about the prospect of League One football within the next few years. Our continuous downward spiral will be out of control in the next couple of years.
it’s fine though, the idiots who say Deeney would never let this happen to da club, will get to clap him as they pay to go to his testimonial which will be a TalkSPORT exclusive!
Mate. As your next opponents we have a total budget of below £10 million. The second set of parachute payments alone is over treble that, it'll be OK. Use the money much more smartly, offload the overpaid players who don't actually add value and use the financial advantage over most of the league.
Said it before and I will say it again. Gino is trying to sell the club. In the summer we will sell Foster, Kiko, Kaba, Masina, Chalobah, Hughes, Sema, Sarr and Pedro. Next season we get relegated to league 1. Yet the happy clappers will still say, but look what Gino did.
I feel chastened and ashamed about my moaning earlier. We are truly #blessed to have such a strong squad. Shame on those who thought getting rid of several players this window and freeing up their wages meant we could get conceivably bring in a player that would improve our attack.
A) You're not idiotically saddled with huge amounts of debt, as we appear to be. B) How do you suggest we magically achieve the ingenious suggestions of 'using the money more smartly' and 'offloading the overpaid players who don't actually add value', when we don't have any influence ourselves and the ownership have shown literally no capability of doing either of those things whatsoever at any point up to this one?
That would all be well and good if we could get rid of Deeney and Gray. Those two have a combined salary of £8.6M a year. We are hamstrung by god knows what as we are kept in the dark as fans as to the true situation at the club until the accounts are published. Our owner is getting to the same situation you had with Sisu.
We can blame Deeney and Gray's salary all we want but the amount of players we've sold this season should have been enough to sign a few players for money. But of course, Gino has never spent a penny on transfer fees in the Championship. Even when Gray's salary wasn't an issue. What a guy.
A) We don't even play in our own ground and owe tens of millions to SISU. B) Recruit in more of a 'Moneyball' type way, scouting in less commonly targeted leagues as well as the lower leagues or Championship. By rights we should be relegated comfortably with a budget about £10 million less than anyone else, but we're overperforming quite a bit. Christ knows what we'd do with just £45 million for getting relegated. The owners don't need to do anything but hire a manager and recruitment team on board with that way of working.
Fairplay, you're debt bros then. But that doesn't change the second thing at all, nor my second point. It's not based on reality. You seem to have ignored my entire point with B; Billy Beane is not coming to save us, because the Pozzo would have to invite him to do so.
The point stands that you'll still have the funds to go in at the top end. Someone will pay a daft fee for the high earners or otherwise take them off your hands, and eventually a white knight will come in and replace Pozzo. At least they've given you some years in the top flight rather than the doldrums and wet afternoons in Forest Green!
They are Gray and Deeney, so I highly doubt that - Gino is more likely to give them both new contracts as a reward for being the best albatrosses around our neck possible. Hopefully you are right on this one, and yes, I appreciate our time in the Prem, obviously - I just think it was purely avoidable that it had to come to an end at this moment, and only did thanks to arrogance and mismanagement.
