We’re less of a basket case than Forest. There. I hope the endorphins released by laughter help you today.
We've actually gone & signed him then. He'll make a couple of appearances then he'll be sold to a lower end Championship team.
Injury prone - check. No transfer fee - check. No sell value - check. Best known for working hard and running around - check. Nobody knows what he’s actually good at - check. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
https://www.watfordfc.com/news/official-hornets-sign-gosling 2.5yrs. Undisclosed fee. More evidence that Leventhal is miles off the ball.
FTTE account in full happy clapper mode on Twitter trying to spin this, genuinely embarrassing Comments rightfully tearing into them though, which is nice to see
One little chink of light. Bournemouth fans are not too happy to see him going, in fact they are annoyed he's gone to us. Biggest attributes are his box-to-box energy and all action style. Good pro and won't let the side down. I actually think he'll win over fans pretty quickly and he's a much better option for us than Garner for sure.
Think thats the sticking point. If he's the replacement for Garner, it looks good business. As long as a Capoue replacement comes in too and we don't sell Chalobah. Does anyone have faith in that though? The fact he's signed a long(ish) term deal points to him filling Capoue's spot though in my opinion, given Garner was only only on loan.
Virtually the same comments as the banner guy. Accuse fans of writing Gosling off - check Relegation/pandemic comments - check 'We almost went bust not so long ago' - CHECK Secret Watford army coordination.
Can’t believe I’m about to say this but for once louorns has hit the nail on the head https://twitter.com/louorns/status/1355844077493882881?s=21 A much more accurate take than FTRE doing their ‘sensible, adult in the room’ take on behalf of the club hierarchy
Yeah, his thread is good and encapsulates the prevailing thought on here, apart from anything. As he says, it's not actually hard to understand at all.
Which to note you should avoid at all costs, unless you love being repeatedly gaslighted by helium huffers, and divert your attention straight to the Watford Buzz pod instead.
Agree with all of that, apart from the comment on us being in a financial crisis, I don't think not selling Sarr is evidence that everything is hunky dory tbf, more a gamble that he's gonna be the one to fire us to promotion
**** signing that isnt as **** as it first looks I suspect. Better than Garner. Who thinks we're replacing Capoue? Hahahaa, Capoue was a 10m signing at the peak of his ability who gave his best years for us. In what world are we now able to buy a midfielder like that? He's simply not getting replaced outside of Chalobah, dele-bashiru, Cleverley etc.
I think the point of that is that if we were in a TRUE financial crisis, it would have been a firesale and Sarr would have been the first to go, rather than the Pozzo attempting to cut their cloth accordingly relative to straitened circumstances. That is where the debate over how much to cut comes into play, of course.
No one, but you already know that - 'replacing' isn't black and white, and no one has ever said as someone else suggested earlier here today that we would be bringing in an 'upgrade' on Capoue. What people are entitled to expect, because they were literally told it would happen, is for a player of the requisite quality to play a similar role to Capoue in the team, and to be a first choice member of the starting XI, to be brought in. The fact that it very strongly appears this won't happen is a change to the stated approach and not something to be celebrated.
3 year deal for a 31-year-old. Never give more than a one-year deal to over 30s! We're lumbered with yet another unsaleable player who will add nothing to the team. I'm sorry but if this is supposed to be a progressive transfer then Pozzo and Co need to move on.
I've just gone through this thread and there are literally multiple occaisions where people are moaning that he's not a suitable replacement for Capoue. I also didn't see anything where the club said we we getting someone in to replace Capoue.
Wow, a lot of stress on here.! The Bmth fans really like Gosling, they are all pretty pjssed with their club. They generally say he's their most reliable player and gives 100pct every game. We've been crying out for another oven-ready energetic midfielder and with our financial position DG ticks a box.! Chabs will be good as a deep player in a really good side, but for us he's lost his pace so this seems a decent swap.? We're not going to spend big money until we get promoted so this sort of signing will be the norm for a while. BTW Bmth fans can't believe he's leaving them to join an "inferior squad..."
I already addressed the idea of 'replacement' and what that means. Obviously you didn't see 'the club' say we were replacing an individual player, because that's not how football works, but you already know that too. What it's easy to find is the only 'tier 1' journalist and club mouthpiece out there telling us at the time that the money was going to be reinvested to bring in a replacement.
That's interesting, I've literally never seen Billing be anything other than a total flatter-to-deceiver with an incredibly ****** attitude. Struggling to think of a time I've ever watched him play well.
Childish stuff from you as usual. The signing isn’t so bad in a vacuum. A solid midfield option. Probably be garbage when he is 33 and he is still contracted to us but that is the Pozzo way.
