Yes, but it's unlikely there'll be two 7-2 results in the same weekend.

While we do need more good eggs, by that description, isn't he basically just a carbon copy of Cleverley? Injury prone too

Absolutely pointless signing but then again it wouldn't be the first this season.

  5. Jumbolina

Another loan would be wiser for me. This one would seem an ageing injury prone player who probably needs what a 2.5 year contract minimum to entice him? And he won’t be on budget wages either. Another body in midfield is good but a whole bunch of negatives. If it’s an 18 month contract then fair enough.

Gosling would kill to have the ability or career that Cleverley has had. I always try and be positive about new signings but this is nearly as baffling and likely to fail as the Glenn Murray signing in the summer. Predictably people are trying to find a way to spin it as a positive as they did with that one but it's yet another piss take from the hierarchy.

Pozzo has trashed our balance sheet over the last few years. Of course we are stuffed. Most people on here seem to understand that.

Don’t read Twitter so can’t comment. But if they are talking nonsense probably wasn’t helped by the Club programming Leventhal to start wittering about a replacement as soon as Capoue left.

I reckon QPR have 7 goals in them. And with a 2-0 lead at half time who wouldn’t back them to put another 5 past us in the second half?

    **** off.

Honestly, this would be an uninspiring transfer rumour in the Lewington days.

Is this the reality of football after Brexit? The Munari's and Tozser's wouldn't qualify for permits any more so we're entirely restricted to Dan Gosling.

To be fair would only be a squad player I doubt any midfield player that we bring I at this stage goes straight into the starting 11. Is Gosling any worse than Garner?

  15. easthertshornet

But we desperately need a midfielder to go into the starting 11, certainly an upgrade on what we have now. Not another benchwarmer.

How can anyone honestly defend this club or Pozzo any more if this is the sort of **** we are going to pull, after all the other horrendous decision of the past couple of years? It's getting genuinely worrying just how clearly the man seems to be accelerating us through the downward spiral we are. **** up after **** up.

    Dan ****ing Gosling. **** off.

I disagree that we desperately need one to come into the starting 11. I think a combination of Hughes, Chalobah and Cleverley is enough until the summer, what we need is cover. It would be nice to have a top quality midfielder come in and start instantly buf is that realistic in January under current circumstances?

Gosling must've been one of the many young English players Duxbury said we'd approached and who would sign once we got in the Premiership. It's just taken this long to finally get him. One thing I'll say about the running of this club, they always (eventually) get their man.

With a lack of money and Brexit now meaning visa/work permits changes, this is the market we're in. It's just bloody sobering when it becomes a reality and there's nobody who likes being sober less than me.

If he can replace Cleverley after an hours running and industry then so be it. Any creativity should be coming from a combination of Sarr, Joao Pedro, Sema or Zinckernagel so yeah, whatever. And even then they can be as creative as they like but if we're still relying on Deeney & Gray to score then it's irrelevant who's providing the chances.

Well, I’ve been complaining that we need more *****s in the team, so I don’t suppose it’s fair for me to complain when we sign one, and coming from Muff, there’s no doubting he is one.

Lots of “he’s clearly not here to start, he’ll be decent back up” apologia being floated on here and on Twitter

Go back and read the first 5 pages of the Murray thread and you’ll see exactly the same misguided optimism that the people in charge have any clue what they’re doing

The club is rotten from top to bottom, our transfer ‘strategy’ is just the more glaring example

“Piss the league” and all that.

Doesn’t help the club hype players up as usual and of-course we had the usual positive spin statement after relegation to get hopes up..

By the way he's 31 on on 2nd February, I suppose he might be ok as a squad backup MF player and he is versatile as he can also play RB apparently.

Hoping we duck out of this transfer.

  26. If he joins I think its the clubs way telling us they have no idea how to get promoted and we can expect to be in the EPL for a while, or, Gino's had enough and is ******* off, and any old carp will do.

He doesn’t offer anything we haven’t already got. The only thing he would bring is experience, can only see him being a warm body on the bench if we’re lucky but would more likely be another warm body keeping the medical staff busy.

Would of rather that cheltenham player with the long throw who had a good game against city. At least he has a long throw.

No, almost certainly not. A bit of a steady Eddie. Had a quick scan of the Bournemouth forum and they seemed quite mixed on him going. All of them say that he runs himself into the ground every game even if not playing that well. A couple would rather he was playing more but thinks they're looking to the future and have expensive younger signings that have to play ahead of him.

I'm clinging onto hope by remembering that Wigan fans said Ben Watson was finished and were happy to see him leave.

I think it’s as much to do with the message this sends out, as it is to do with Gosling himself.

He’s not a terrible player. He’s just not the marked upgrade on what we have and is certainly no replacement for Capoue.

But it’s the fact that we are taking a player that Bournemouth deem surplus because they’ve pro-actively gone out and sourced better players and are doing what they should do.

We shouldn’t be fishing around in those waters - and it’s a damning indictment on the recruiting team/network the club are always so quick to enthuse about.

No. I had a look on the Bournemouth forum and most agree that he is a decent enough player and would be a good squad player. He has had 8 starts and had 2 goals one and one assist this season,. If he is coming in to replace Garner it's an improvement in my opinion.
