If Bournemouth are happy to sell to a promotion rival, that tells you all you need to know. Hopefully it doesn’t come off or there’s nothing in this.
Not sure why we're going in for this guy. Bang average midfielder & Bournemouth are happy to let him leave.
Have to hope he has a Guedioura or Watson type effect. Just doesn’t seem the type though. And has a very worrying injury record.
I think he's out of contract in the summer and wont sign a new deal. Regardless, I was hoping we'd be more ambitious. Hoping he is in to replace garner and we bring in a capoue replacement too..
I know we’ve had some bad days in the last 2 years (and even worse further back), but finding out today that Deulofeu is leaving permanently and we’re trying to replace Etienne Capoue with Dan Gosling is right up there No ambition, no positivity, no rebuild, no future Time for Michaelangelo Ashley to sell up and starting looking for another ‘project’. Thanks for the memories but it’s time to move on
Somebody enlighten me, how is this any worse than Conor Hourihane (29)? Definitely not worthy of being a regular starter, but would be a useful backup option in there.
Can’t wait for the happy clappers to do this again for Gino by telling us this is good business. Promotion rival selling us their worst midfielder.
Very disappointing and showing a complete lack of ambition and lack of long term planning. Gino doing things on the cheap again.
We have an inordinate amount of stupid supporters who think we are rolling in cash. They can’t help being **** wits
I get it, we're skint, can the club just be honest with us and not pretend like we're going to be making any marquee signings?
Potentially an upgrade on Chalobah and Garner, so in my view makes our midfield (ever so slightly) stronger. But no, not an exciting signing, and certainly not a Capoue replacement.
Not sure even our most head in the sand supporters think we are “rolling in cash”. You just made that up. Our finances were dire even after the cup final season so it seems pretty obvious the state they are in now.
If it's Gosling plus another such as Lea Siliki then fine, we need bodies in there. Not thrilled with another over 30 coming in though. Why do the club keep getting ageing players on long deals?
For the record, he's almost certainly an upgrade on Garner, so it probably wouldn't be a Murray-level flop of a signing, but it's so so underwhelming. Would make me a little less nervous if one of our main midfielders is subbed/rested/injured, but doesn't make me any more confident of going up
Nothing says ambition like signing a has-been cast-off from ******* Bournemouth. Why not go for Harry Arter or Yann Kermorgant while we're at it?
So who exactly do we expect to get in without money? surely this is a case of cutting our cloth accordingly?
People are talking about a Capoue replacement, how the f*ck do you replace a top player like that in a January window after 10 months of covid restrictions? He hasn't made that up at all, you see morons on here and twitter calling Gino tight as we haven't spunked any money up the wall this window. From what I can see the club has its hands tied up budget wise as we're stuck with a lot of dross like Deeney, Gray, Chalobah etc who aren't worth the paper their pay cheques are written on. A common issue for relegated clubs.
I notice it says we are in talks so really there is a chance we might not afford his wages? Surely we aren’t that skint that even a 30 year old Bournemouth reject might be too much ?
The option here is surely, not to sign him if he doesn’t improve us? If he were a 22 year old midfielder with promise? Sure. A 30 year old who isn’t going to suddenly inspire us to promotion and lumped with surely a 3 year deal given Duxburry’s commitment to OAP footballers given our current financial situation? It just doesn’t make sense.
This is a highly questionable signing, however, Bournemouth fans still rate him. Hard working, puts a shift in etc. Generally a good egg. Probably not the signing we all wanted but might be a decent option, especially if he comes in with Siliki or someone of that quality. If he's the only incoming player before Monday, then we can write-off promotion for this year, IMHO.
We built up to the first half of the season excited about the squad additions of Suarez, Estupinian and Joao Pedro We go into the second half of the season with the tantalising squad additions of Rob Elliot, Dan Gosling and Isaac Success
