Was a Saturday treat to get on the Met Line to Harrow or Uxbridge and spend my pocket money on a Codemasters £1.99 game.

    Personal spectrum favourites:
    Chuckie Egg
    Jet-Pac
    ATV

Got an emulator on my tablet with about 400 games. Takes up about a Mb.

Is there a decent one for iPad? I couldn’t work out the controls on B’wood’s link although there are some good games there.

    Z & X, L & P were pretty standard for zx spectrum games - I think?

That goalmouth is huge! Judging by the players it’s about 12 feet high by 18 yards wide.

Right, will give a try. Thanks.

Oh, for the days of the Kempston joystick.

I don't really know as I had a vic-20 and c64 with luxuries such as a proper keyboard and integrated preipherals.

Someone would be bound to moan at me if I were to lose a game.

    Loved my Spectrum.

Attck Attack was the dogs bananas and by far my favourite game.
Football manager was easy to hack and give yourself unlimited funds.
I believe The Hobbit was also the first role playing game ever?

Myself and a sad mate both had CB radios at the time, and we used to write programs and send them over to each other by CB. Worlds first internet communication over wifi?

  13. I loved Lords of Midnight

On C64 I loved Secret of Monkey Island

Then PS1,2,3,4.... I loved and played all of the Tomb Raiders

Both great games. As is Atic Atac - I had completely forgotten about it.

Someone elsewhere mentioned they're currently reading Sensible Software 1986–1999 by Gary Penn.

It's currently £140 on Amazon, so although I'm intrigued, I probably won't be following in their footsteps.

You can buy it direct here for cover price, they still have a handful of copies left after they found some additional old stock a couple of weeks ago:

I've been enjoying playing Tapper from Bwood's original link. Also Daley Thompson's Decathlon (irritiatingly it only has the first day).

Pretty sure I saw them live at the Roundhouse.

Isn't the main character a poster on here?

That had a marvellous bug in that: Daley's character was throwing the discus when he turned up to race in the 1500m race.

    Manic Miner.

Spending 30 mins loading up the game from a dodgy tape copy .

  24. Don't remember the spiders. Horace goes skiing was awesome though.

  25. Wow this brings back some memories!

There's a zx spectrum emulator on the app stores. Really good emulator but doesn't have a save facility.

Played a couple of seasons of this but couldn't save the progress.

At £10 less I'd be seriously tempted.
Sensible Soccer and Cannon Fodder were simply fantastic games.

Loved my zx. Manic Miner, Jet Pac, Space Invaders and the Horace games were my favourites (I had the spiders and the skiing one but liked the skiing one best). I had The Hobbit but didn’t get it at all - I just kept getting stuck.

I've got a Spectrum and an Amiga 600 in a cupboard somewhere. I might have to fire them up after reading this thread.

The number of tape cassettes created, bought and now in land fill due to the ZX spectrum. at least 100 from my childhood. The Internet its more sustainable isn’t it?

Sensible Soccer was brilliant and used to play Football Director, similar to Football Manager but much simpler. Must have played 50 odd season of that

Treasure Island Dizzy has to be one of the hardest games. Code Masters at their very best. My sister had a Thundetcats game she loved. Some of the best text based RPG's ever made. Amazing what Assembly language could achieve.

You plugged the speaker output of your spectrum into your cb and they hooked their cb mic into the recieving end of their spectrum? Thats very cool.
