Spot on exactly how I feel tonight, just feel momentum is growing, we have a very good squad strength, onwards and upwards.
They didn't have a single shot on target, and we wasted about 3 one on ones. Good performance, finishing (still) needs to improve. Don't see how anyone can really be soiling their sheets at the minute. Save it until Stoke score their third, at least.
I'm convinced TD deliberately played for that penalty by kicking the ball at the defenders outstretched hand on purpose.
Yes me too. And he did a quick bit of mental trigonometry to work out the best angle to hit it into his thigh so it bounced up onto his hand. Clever guy is our Troy.
If he's doing a reverse Ighalo, would that mean he suddenly starts banging them into our own net? That'd be peak Gray if so.
A good win and I thought we weren't in danger apart from the first ten minutes. Hats off to Troy I thought he was excellent tonight and we suffered when he went off,a little too early for me and I would have taken Gray off but I'm not complaining. Freddie played well and actually smiled and a great break for one of the chances Gray should have scored. I wish I had a pound for every offside and although he was much improved I really don't see the point in persisting with him. If he was ever going to score it was tonight. Lovely cameo from Pumpernickel. Great to see Hughes back. No idea what FS was doing, got himself all around the wrong way but credit to BTO for being alert. Nice fisti cuffs at the end!
I may be alone but I have a feeling Success will be a handful in this league. I would far prefer him given a chance over Gray - strong as an Ox and think he may surprise a few
Did what we had to do. 2 wins from those two home games. Observations were Barnsley pegged us back from the start, but once we weathered that early blitz we controlled the match (as we should). I can see some players really growing into it now and going up a level. But, yet again Gray's inability to take simple chances could have cost us tonight. It was one of Gray's better performances too, but he is criminally wasteful. Lazy at coming out for his offside goal too. WTE should have scored and Hughes hits the post. Crazy defending from Barnsley to concede the penalty, but Deeney's power is always reliable from the spot. The last 3 keepers have all stood still but still can't save them. I thought Troy was very effective tonight. Led the line superbly and I thought it was a mistake by Munoz to have taken him off so early. It reduced our attacking play to a degree. Really liking the look of the Zinckerman. Such quick feet and once he gets used to the league we'll see an even more influential version I'm sure. Very good saves from Bachmann to deny an extraordinary own goal and also another great reflex stop even (though it was offside) earlier on in the game. Watford really put us through it. Should have been a comfortable night, but the lack of cutting edge is holding us back. I only hope the club have something in the pipeline to sort this problem out, or it could end up costing us.
Still need a capoue replacement. Hughes cleverly and chalobah done well but to have another decent option would be vital for the remaining games. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Happy with the result and it was a decent performance. Finishing let us down. I would be somewhat positive about things. Feminia is playing as well as he has ever played with us and apart from the outrageous og attempt by Sieralta, the back five looked solid. I thought Hughes was excellent and hopefully the beginning of a long run of starts for us. Apart from the numerous offsides, miss placed paces, lack of control and chances spurned, Gray wasn’t as bad as usual. I agree with others that Zinkernagel looks to have something about him. Could be a shrewd piece of business. Deeney played well too and spread the ball well at times. We certainly have a chance at promotion. Rest were ok and Sarr looked up for the fight, literally.
I must be the only person who is not yet convinced by Zinckernagel. He obviously has potential but he needs more time to understand the Championship. He tries things that may have worked in Norway but which can't fool seasoned Championship defenders. I don't think that he is ready to start. Maybe he will be after a few more games off the bench.
Sierralta looked nervous and hesitant when he first started for us. But after a few games shows himself as a definite improver. Plenty of potential. But I think there's still a costly mistake coming up sometime. Can look a bit slow when a quick player is up against him.
Decent night, quite a few positives and other results going in our favour. Back to square one if we can't beat Stoke though.
There was quite a tussle going on beforehand; but I would think something was said. Also interesting to see who did what to try to break it up (or not, in some cases).
Hadn’t looked at the table for weeks, but we’ve definitely got a good shot at second, can’t believe Bournemouth are below us. Brentford have games in hand but points are always better. I said at the time Swansea should’ve been a do not lose, one game where we could’ve done with Ivic. If we’d drawn that we would be second.
They showed a replay - the Barnsley players hand was quite high when pushing Sarr away...just below the neck. Sarr reacted and it was handbags from then on. Was all a bit of an overreaction from all sides really. Nothing was said though as I watched to see on the replay.
