So we have a striker playing in La Liga who has scored against Barcelona, is young and hungry and trying to prove himself and we could bring him back to our team who are struggling to score and look farking useless upfront. Well the choice is clear, persist with Gray and Deeney it is then
It would be criminal to not even attempt to bring him back whilst continuing to play Gray and Deeney up top. Any other club would bring a player back who was performing well if they were struggling in that position. It's such a shame we are talking about Watford and we will stick to Gray and Troy and have to rely heavily on goals from the wingers and midfield.
Oh yes. I think the difference between those two is I could see Success scoring 5-6 goals in amongst all the falling over etc. I don’t think Gray will. I thought Gray might have been okay at this level and thought he deserved another chance. I was clear about that over the summer - but I have no issue with saying I got it wrong. His attitude regarding lockdown and his floundering, comical efforts on the pitch are evidence enough how incorrect I was. I think Success has easily more ability than Gray. Whether he chooses to display that is another question.
I've just read that Betis are trying to do some kind of swap deal for Cucho . How can this happen if we own him? Surely if he's on the move he's coming here...
Pape Gueye. In all seriousness, if we sold Cucho at some stage, do you trust the club to tell us? I think it's just as likely they never mention him again given the way they operate now.
Let's be honest, he's never going to play for us. All he has to do is just say, like Suarez and Estupinan did, 'I don't want to play for you' and we'll sell for whatever fee we can get. I wonder if we'd had a great and motivating coach at the start whether they could have been convinced otherwise.
Just sell him. Never going to play here, doing well but not setting the world alight in La Liga for second year running.
As much as I know where you're coming from, I can't agree. We all say we need a new striker - and we have him on the books. he may not be setting the world alight but he's doing okay and not stinking the place out. He's got a decent future it seems. We won't be buying a striker guaranteed to score lots of goals as its obvious we can't afford it so I really don't see why we should sell Cucho unless we need even more money.
My logic is that I don't think we'll get promoted, he's not going to play in the Championship, we're not going to be in a position to offer him a new contract on the wages he'd want so might as well sell him at a point where there's still a decent chunk left on his contract (disclaimer, I don't know how much longer he's got). Also it's just dispiriting to hear about these good young players that could've played for us if we'd stayed up but now never will. Just bank the money and move on.
