He wasn’t negative under Pearson. He also wasn’t known, never had 2 or 3 chump cloggers kicking him off the park in the first 10 mins of a game. Geri would be an idiot to come back even if he was allowed.

Sarr is January on the new calendar - must be off!

If that’s the case I presume Troy is December, and Andre Gray gets fewer days than most so must be February

Deeney (Foster is March) is May (last season..) and Gray not on at all or Capue.

Not his most brilliant best tonight, and still a lot of very wayward balls into the box, but still encouraging signs, got at his man a lot more than in the Ivic era. Got another week's rest coming up, look forward to seeing him against Swansea

  7. Thought the ref was determined to find any excuse to send Sarr off tonight, didn't think he did much wrong. Amazing how easy a ball popped in behind the full backs is.

I didn't get the decision to book him at all, either it's an accident, in which case play on, or he belted Pukki in the face and it's a red, why the yellow?

Reckless play, yellow card is fair, but not intentional or excessive force, so no red. Fair play to the ref for resisting the urge to give a second yellow for the other soft fouls though.

Just let him go. It's borderline abuse keeping him here. I think he's been a massive disappointment overall but even so, he deserves better.

    I agree.
He's not as good as we had hoped but it's clear we're not going anywhere until this squad is ripped up and we begin again.
The chances of getting fees for Deeney and Gray are non existent unless Papa Pozzo takes pity on his floundering son so we need to realise some assets or our one asset.

  15. Sell. The squad needs a rebuild and that will take cash, and Sarr is one of the few players anyone would pay money for.

If we could get our money back then I’m sure we would. He’s not worth £35m. But that much is clear to all right now and so he’s stuck here while we gamble on a potential good run of form increasing his value back to what we paid.

United have signed Diallo for 37 million Euros so I think it is unlikely that they come in for Sarr.

I would say the Liverpool ship sailed when they signed Jota instead of Sarr and they will be probably be prioritising a centre back now.

Can't imagine Palace will offer us the sort of money to make it worth while selling him.

The £40m-£50m valuation is laughable and dropping further as each day passes. The £25m we would currently get would go to pay down debt. Given we’d previously hoped to get £40m+ I very much doubt we’d be able to spend anything on new players. We’d have a new funding hole of £15m to fill.

We need to hang on to Sarr even though he is currently not living up to his potential. Having said that, if someone was crazy enough to give us at least the money we paid for him then I would snatch their hands off, however as I think that is very unlikely right now we simply cannot afford to take the huge financial hit of selling him at a knock down price.

We must just bite the bullet and hope that "The Kid" gets him playing with his Mo-Jo back? That way we can either try to keep him should we manage to get back to the PL, or if not sell him at a profit in the Summer.

I used to think slow players were infuriating...

But fast players that don't use their pace is far more annoying.

If I had any faith in our scouting, finance and transfer department, I'd say take it and allow a mid season rebuild. However I suspect that we'd need to use most of it to pay off debt and get a couple of free transfers and/or bargain basement buys.

Even if we did look to reinvest, I have no faith we'd be able to do so, the myth of 3/4 options in every position being brutally exposed by the inability to find a left back for the first half of the season and that we've let Capoue go and don't seem to be close to a replacement. Better to roll the dice and hope that an underperforming Sarr can keep us in the playoff places and we somehow fluke promotion that way.

West Ham preparing huge £30m transfer raid on Watford for Ismaila Sarr as David Moyes looks to ease striker crisis (thesun.co.uk)

If Watford accepted that, then it would be a big come down on their stance in the summer of £40-£50m. It would tell me they're cashing in now and will probably turn us into a solid mid-table Championship team. He's the last big ticket sale price player.

I would be disappointed, but not surprised. The way the club is being run right now, from the outside, seems to be very poor and the owners are taking us in the wrong direction with virtually every decision they make.

I still hope they can turn it around and surprise me with a quality addition to the forward line and maybe central midfield. Two areas that certainly need strengthening if we really are going for promotion.

I quite liked the look of the team on Saturday, apart from a couple of positions (Gray, Navarro). But the team has proved time and time again it cannot score goals. Maybe Munoz can produce something a little more attacking, but he's not a magician and he cannot coach Gray and Deeney into becoming goal scoring players. That's not going to happen. In terms of scoring goals, these two players cannot cut it even in the Championship.

If we sell Sarr, how much would be reinvested? Is there sufficient quality in the market right now to improve us? Ok, London Zoo have a couple of sloths that they're looking to rehouse, so that could improve our forward line, however, the central midfield area would still remain an issue.

Well we probably won’t sell if we still want 40/50 million although quite who offer that much not sure !

Depends how much the club feel they need to get money in I guess .

Ofcourse this is just a rumour and hearsay probably because West Ham sold Haller .

Typical tabloid putting 2 and 2 together making 5.

Same old same old, yet again shows up for a decisive moment to win the pen, but doesn't impose himself on the game against Championship cloggers. His output in terms of goals, assists and penalties won is fine, but Jesus H Christ, we were expecting more

He's just really, really not very good.

5 goals and 5 assists in 23 Championship games for a £35m winger, big whoop. Average touch, average dribbling skills, doesn't particularly like taking players on most of the time, average crosser of the ball and he genuinely doesn't even look that fast any more.

Hard to pin it all on him when the midfield is so dysfunctional and when players like TE or Navarro cannot find him with a simple pass. Not to mention our transitions are so ponderous. Or that referees generally allow the opposition to man handle him all the time.

As soon as he leaves as he will do for a club that can actually play football, create space by moving the ball at a high tempo and can pass accurately he will flourish. And if we had more decent forwards he would have far more assists. He is a real talent. But even diamonds would struggle to shine in this muck. I like him immensely. Never once complained or agitated for a move and is one of those players that just enjoys their football (hard for him here I know). Not to mention he must be fatigued. He is one of those that plays week in and out. I expect he has never experienced it before.

Why we bought Zinckernagel is a mystery. Why not alternate or share the workload a bit perhaps ?

Like several other players who were castigated on here for being duds they have actually shown their worth at other clubs. Foulqier at Granada, Pussetto at Udinese. The fault does not lie with them it lies with the muppets in charge who bring in players that the coach at the time does not want and leaves to rot. Or is incapable of utilizing those players to the best of their ability.

I think the fee we payed for Gray is roughly what we should've payed for Sarr. That would've been reasonable. He's a good player, but nowhere near what we payed for him.

(I think the fee we pay for a bag of crisps at half time on matchday is roughly what we should've payed for Gray)
