I remember when we played Brum in the playoffs (99?) and Chamberlain saved one / multiple penalties for us to go through. I remember the atmosphere was something else that night although I was about 200 miles away, listening to it in my old car as it was the only radio I had that worked (and no way did I have Sky in those days). The Escort Mk3 was rocking that night.
I've heard a whisper about the special guest. From the voices in my head, it's going to be someone who was involved in that 1984 Q-F? Yes, it's going to be the ghostly spirit of Ron Saunders complete with ouija board. He's going to publicly apologise for helping Mick Harford in his "footballing" career.
I was one of those there that night and I think it’s the most intense atmosphere I’ve experienced at a game following Watford. I’m not sure how I survived the tension.
I'd been hoping that this was the game we'd finally be able to turn around our rancid away form, but now that Ivic has won the Manager of the Month award there's no chance. Brum 1 - 0 Watford
Watched it in The Reindeer in Northwood (crap pub, no longer there, but a great atmosphere on the night). Was still smoking back in those days and went through a fair few over the course of the match
And the winner is the poster who can post a picture of him smiling, hurry competition ends 31/12/2025
Mate of mine just walked around at the back of the stand for all of extra time and the pens. I said to my mate standing next to me, we need to keep it tight for the first 20 mins or so. 1 down in the first minute. It is the loudest opposition fans I've ever heard when they took the lead
It’s all part of the authorities’ dastardly campaign against us....force us to keep the coach who will not get us promoted.
we normally sack post Xmas , so not long Does it say why he won manager of the month, it’s been an alright month from a results point of view , but wouldn’t have thought we were the highest scorer or most improved in the month
I have watched Birmingham a few times this season and they always seem to be solid, I am expecting them to be extremely tough to break down if we go 1-0 down in this then I think it will be good night Vienna. Having said this I am hoping that Hughes and Capoue player alongside each other tomorrow which will undoubtedly improve our midfield. Just for the record, I don't care how badly we play and how boring we are to watch as long as we take the three points back with us.
FWIW - I think Ivic has made his feelings known to GP, they are looking for 2 or 3 players in, and they are looking to move Capoue on in January and maybe a couple of others like Success and Guns of. I do actually think Ivic can make this team work with just a couple of specific players in, (plus Hughes.) Looks like we might be getting Dawson back early as well????
Been to Brum just once. Quarter Finals of the FA Cup in 84. The Zulus wanted our blood afterwards so more than glad to get out alive. Not been back since. Brum 1 Waffod 0
How old were you when GT became Watford manager ? You have him as your avatar but you were barely even born when he became Watford Manager were you ? And yet your whole attitude and vernacular is so opposed to everything that GT believed in , that it is actually disrespectful to the history of our club that you use his image as your avatar . If GT ever heard your toxic , negative bile he would have banned you from being anywhere near our club . The club atmosphere that he and SEJ (and us fans) created out of love , passion and positivity is so far from your childish , hysterical rants , that you are the opposite to them in every way. Shame on you .
For various reasons, apart from the Cardiff match which I went to, I haven’t followed the matches this season in as close a detail as I normally do. I suggest some on here do the same. I see our result and read a couple of match reports. If we’ve lost I feel mildly aggrieved. If we’ve won I feel happy and pleased that we’re towards the top of the table. I’m glad I do this because otherwise, if I relied on reading the comments on here, I would assume we were in the relegation zone.
Not sure why you'd think this. Most negative posts are variants of: "Think we have a higher points haul than our performances deserve" "Good to get 3 points, but what a dreadful negative match" "Hope our awful away performances don't spill into our strong home form"
To be fair I doubt GT would be much impressed with Pozzo's merry go round of tradeable assets which creates a culture which is the complete opposite of team spirit, passion, common purpose and positivity.
Negative as ever Seriously why don't you go and support another team, because you sure as hell don't give Watford any support on here
This has 0-0 written all over it. Karanka is the dullest manager in the league, we haven't really set the league on fire either They've scored an average of 0.82 goals per game and conceded 0.88 goals per game. We've scored 1.24 goals per game and conceded 0.71. Doesn't scream a thriller.
