Aged 83. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-55269649 Sure the Queen Vic and Eastenders will have a tribute or two.
Peggy Mitchell. Great lady and Icon of Carry On movies. Babs had everything that talent required of her. Will be sadly missed, an Icon of English acting. RIP xxxxx
I once voted after her in a polling booth. It's always tougher when those die that you were close to.
Lovely story about her from a mate. She had a habit after long night shoots in the 'Wood of not going home instead checking into "The Thatched Barn" (or whatever it's called now) for a massive piss-up with one of her, many, showbiz chums. On one of these, she calls reception for more champagne (1/2 doz bottles already sunk - it's 4AM) so my mate is told to take it to her and check everything's OK. She takes the bubbly to her suite, knocks on the door with room service and takes it in. Bab's well pissed and has her best mate Christopher Biggins with her. My mate lets slip that she's been sent down to check up on her and Babs and Biggins go into full luvvie mode "...oh bless you darling..." and insist she joins them when she comes off duty at 6 with a fresh bottle. She does and ends up getting hammered with them and spending 2 hours merrily ******* it up with them while hearing some of the funniest/best showbiz anecdotes ever.
Used to go to her pub in Winchmore Hill from time to time and she was always very friendly and approachable. RIP Babs
From what I remember of Carry on Camping they were floppy danglers shored up with massive cantilever bras.
My thoughts exactly. I seem to recall they plunged down like a pair of hanged men when the bra came off.
