I thought the FA said COVID wasn’t a reason to cancel a game and that teams would be expected to field a side even if it mean using reserves.

No worries you're better off talking to @Keighley. As he/she's at one of the country's top* "Nearly" Universities I sure you can be accommodated, you go there and walk about for at least three years continually whining that you "...nearly got into [INSERT CAMFORD COLLEGE NAME] but..." and they give you some sort of award.
